MGP 2021 has passed its halfway point and is now in the final straight to find out who will represent Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. The winner will succeed the young Ulrikke Brandstorp, who was Norway’s representative at Eurovision 2020 with the song ‘Attention’.
Next Saturday, February 6th, the show will continue with its next semi-final, the fourth of a total of five. A few minutes ago, NRK has confirmed the contestants that will compete at the next show and has published the songs each of them will perform on the Norwegian selection stage.
In the list below, you can find out the four candidates, song titles and listen to them:
Landeveiens Helter – “Alt Det Der”
KIIM – “My Lonely Voice”
Royane – “Circus”
Marianne Pentha & Mikkel Gaup – “Pages”
Last Saturday, we enjoyed the third semi-final of Melodi Grand Prix 2021, in which Emmy won the final ticket with her song “Witch Woods” beating Big Daddy Karseten. The third semi-final also featured a performance of “Feel Again” by Kaja Rode, who qualified directly for the Grand Final. The Norwegian broadcaster has chosen a scenario without a live audience for their national selection due to the strong health crisis that is sweeping the world because of the pandemic, which is currently on the rise. However, all shows feature live shootings of people watching them at home.
Here is the list of artists who have already qualified for the Grand Final of Melodi Grand Prix 2021 on February 20th:
- Blåsemafian ft. Hazel – “Let Loose” (Winners of Semi-Final 1)
- Raylee – “Hero” (Winner of Semi-Final 2)
- Emmy – “Witch Woods” (Winner of Semi-Final 3)
- KEiiNO – “Monument”
- Kaja Rode – “Feel Again”
- Atle Pettersen – “World On Fire”
- TIX – “Ut Av Mørket”
- Rein Alexander – “Eyes Wide Open”
- Stavangerkameratene – “Barndomsgater”.
This edition of MGP is leaving us a mix of well-known and loved artists as well as new and exciting ones. This was already revealed by the organisers weeks before the start of the Norwegian selection, they said:
“We are very interested in diversity, so there will be a wide variety of genres. There will be some nice surprises, and people may have to pay attention to something new that they don’t normally listen to”.
Unlike other broadcasters, Norsk Rikskringkasting (NRK) has decided not to keep Ulrikke for this year’s contest. According to the artist, she is preparing a great performance that we will be able to see at the Grand Final in future editions. In addition, after having been asked by her fans, she has promised she will return to MGP maybe in two years time.
Remember! You can’t miss the fourth semi-final of Melodi Grand Prix 2021 on Saturday from 19:50 CET at H3 Arena.
