TVR has announced details about how they will select the song Roxen will perform at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. The young singer was selected internally to wave the country’s flag after she couldn’t reach the big stage in Rotterdam last year.
“I really think the Eurovision slogan fits perfectly the whole context: #OpenUp. I’ve had a completely atypical year, a lot of challenges and a competition that has lasted for almost two years. However, the most important thing is to be healthy and see each other well. I am also looking forward to finding out which song I will perform for Romania at Eurovision this year. Whatever it is, I hope you’ll like and enjoy it. I can’t wait to start the journey back to Rotterdam and recharge the best energy with you all “, said Roxen.
Today the selection stage of Romania’s song for the Eurovision Song Contest has begun. In the next few weeks, Roxen will record some demo songs of potential compositions in the studio. Those demo tracks will be sent to the jury which will choose the winning song.
TVR has decided not to broadcast a show to select Roxen’s entry because of two main reasons. They can’t afford to organise one due to the financial and health restrictions arisen from the current pandemic situation. Moreover, they want to use their budget at the international stage of the competition, Roxen’s staging and show.
“The Eurovision Song Contest will probably be the first music event on the planet after a year in which the music industry has suffered and live music has been silent. Musicians from 41 countries will be more united than ever in Rotterdam and more eager than ever to demonstrate what a miraculous and healing power music has,” said Liana Stanciu, head of Romania’s Eurovision delegation.
