Luxembourg 2024: Update about the progress of Luxembourg’s national final

On September 6th 2023 Luxembourg’s public broadcaster, RTL, has released an update about the progression of the country’s search for their 2024 participant, which will be the first one in no less than 31 years.

What happened up to now

100 Singers were invited by RTL to participate in a first acapella audition round in the Luxembourgian city, Esch-sur-Alzette (Rockhal); in this city and venue the national final of the country will also be held. These auditions were open to singers that want to participate with a song, and singers that do not have a song yet. There will also be a round for songwriters and composers who are looking for an artist that can sing their song. The candidates ranged from16 up to 63 years of age.

Sidenotes

The jury of the Luxembourgian auditions already came up with sidenotes for next editions of a participant search: Auditionees could sing acapella or they could make use of an instrument. Most of them sang acapella, which also meant that there were not that many songs that were up-tempo.

Next phase

In the next phase of the Luxembourgian search for their participant for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö (Sweden) is that the artists that were picked in the first phase will battle against established artists to earn a spot in the Luxembourgian national final, which will take place on January 27th 2024 in the Rockhal in Esch-sur-Alzette.
