INTERESTING FACTS:

  • The hosts of the show were Sipke Jan Bousema and Kim-Lian van der Meij and the interval acts were Katie Melua, Chipz, and, for the first time at JESC, all of the participants sing the song “One World” together.
  • Spain and Croatia both withdrew from the contest and Georgia, Armenia, Bulgaria and Lithuania made their debuts this year.
  • A documentary film was made about the 2007 JESC by Jamie Johnson called “Sounds Like Teen Spirit” (a pun on the famous song by Nirvana). The film focuses on: the Belgian entrants Trust and Junior Eurosong contestant Babs Buelens; Marina Baltadzi from the Bulgarian group Bon-Bon; the representative of Cyprus, Yiorgos Ioannides; and Georgian debut contestant, Mariam Romelashvili. The film unit also attended the National Finals of Malta, Sweden, Ukraine and Belarus. In Belarus the director stated that he would make any of the contestants the star of the movie unless it was Aliaksei Zhyhalkovich, who not only won the Belarussian selection but also won the whole contest.
  • Arevik, who were the first representatives of Armenia, led the count from the first round of voting until the very last round where they were pipped at the post by a single point.
  • Mircea Eremia, who was a member of the Romanian group 4 Kids, is the younger brother of Alina Eremia who represented Romania in 2005.
  • The Serbian representative, Nevena Božović is the 1st JESC performer to compete in ESC as a main performer, as a part of the trio Moja 3, who represented Serbia in the 2013 ESC with the song “Ljubav je svuda”.
  • Amy and Shelley Vol, from the trio Lisa, Amy and Shelley that represented the Netherlands, are the only fraternal (not identical) twins to have both competed at JESC so far.
  • Sweden were represented by Frida Sandén who had performed in 2006 as a backing singer for her older sister Molly. Frida’s younger sister would also represent Sweden in 2009.
  • Aliaksei Zhyhalkovich became the second winner for Belarus and this was the first time that any country had won the contest more than once.
