Eurovision Eurovision 2020 Sweden

Sweden: SVT to host its own 2020 contest

Eurovision 2020 is officially cancelled but if there is one country that adores this contest, it’s gotta be Sweden.

Despite this year’s cancellation, SVT wants to give the Swedish audience a taste of the 2020 edition. An idea and production of Christer Björkman and Edward af Sillén. The Eurovision week will begin on May 9th with Inför ESC. A preview show that SVT was airing a few years back before each competition with a 5-person panel, discussing and awarding points to each ESC contestant. This year however, the show will be different. David Sundin together with Christer Björkman will present the 41 songs of this year’s contest and the Swedish audience will vote for their 25 favorite via the Melodifestivalen app.

On May 14th, Sveriges 12:a (Sweden’s 12 points) will be aired. The 25 songs that made it to “the final” will be presented once again and the Swedish audience will cast their votes via the app, to find the winner of 2020. Well, Sweden’s winner. Apart from deciding the country’s 12, we will also go down the memory lane of Eurovision to remember some special moments. And of course, Sweden’s 2020 representatives, The Mamas will also be there to perform “Move”!

The Eurovision week will end on May 16th with the broadcast of Europe shine a light that EBU announced a few days ago.

So if you’re still bumped (who isn’t?) about the cancellation of Eurovision 2020 and if your national broadcaster hasn’t planned anything yet, save the dates and get a small taste of your beloved contest!
