As the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 looms on the horizon, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is set to light up its national stage with the Luxembourg Song Contest 2025 (LSC2025). This highly anticipated event, scheduled for January 25, 2025, will take place at the iconic Rockhal in Esch-sur-Alzette, a venue that has become synonymous with grand musical events in Luxembourg. LSC2025 isn’t just a national final—it’s a celebration of the country’s revitalized Eurovision spirit, fueled by its triumphant return last year.
Luxembourg’s Journey to Eurovision 2025: The Road So Far
Luxembourg’s Eurovision history is glorious and illustrious, having claimed five wins in the competition’s early decades. However, after withdrawing in 1993, the country was absent from the ESC stage for 30 years. Its much-anticipated return in 2024 was nothing short of remarkable. Represented by Tali, an emerging powerhouse vocalist, and her catchy and empowering banger, “Fighter”, which portrayed to the perfection her vital experiences in the music industry, Luxembourg proved it still had the artistic depth and audience appeal to thrive in the modern Eurovision era.
Tali’s song, an anthemic yet uplifting piece about perseverance in adversity and fight for your dreams, resonated with audiences across Europe, earning 103 points and securing her with a 13th-place finish at ESC 2024 in Malmö, Sweden while reaching a top 5 result in the first semi-final. This result not only reaffirmed Luxembourg’s relevance in the competition but also set a high benchmark for future entries. With Basel hosting ESC 2025, the stakes are even higher, as Luxembourg looks to build on last year’s momentum and recapture the glory of its Eurovision heyday.
Basel’s selection as the host city for ESC 2025 has been a topic of great excitement and interest among fans during the last months. Switzerland last hosted Eurovision in 1989, making this a long-awaited return for the Alpine nation, who has been collecting top 5 finishes during the last decades with Luca Hanni (2019) and Gjon’s Tears (2021) until this year, when Nemo with their groundbreaking song “The code” took the trophy back to Swiss soil earning both jury’s and public’s hearts conquering the scoreboard with 591 points.
The decision to host the event in Basel was announced last 30th August, and reflects the city’s strong cultural infrastructure, vibrant music scene, and accessibility as a central European hub that makes it the perfect scenery to host such as remarkable edition at the city’s state-of-the-art St. Jakobshalle arena. Basel, with excellent transport connections, is poised to offer an unforgettable Eurovision experience, and Luxembourg is determined to shine on this grand stage.
The Luxembourg Song Contest will take place at Rockhal, one of Luxembourg’s premier music venues. Situated in the heart of the vibrant Belval district, Rockhal is renowned for its exceptional acoustics and cutting-edge facilities. The venue has previously hosted world-renowned artists, making it a fitting stage for a national final as significant as LSC. Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg’s second-largest city, has long been a hub for cultural activity, and the choice of Rockhal reflects Luxembourg’s commitment to showcasing its rich artistic heritage and local talent, making the perfect location to choose the next Luxembourgish act that will fly the flag of the Grand Duchy next May 2025 in Basel. With a capacity to accommodate 6,500 fans, the venue ensures a spectacular evening for both attendees and the millions tuning in via TV and streaming platforms.
Meet the Seven Finalists: A Diverse Lineup
From a pool of 77 submissions who showcased their talent and gave everything they had last 8-10 of November, the LSC2025 jury has meticulously selected seven acts to compete for the honor of representing Luxembourg at ESC2025 in Basel. The lineup represents a balance of established performers and emerging talent, ensuring a dynamic and varied contest with a rich blend of genres, vocal ranges, languages and music styles that will appeal to every kind of audience.
Let’s meet the potential next representative of Luxembourg at Eurovision in Basel 2025:
- Laura Thorn: A newcomer to the Eurovision scene, Laura brings a wealth of musical expertise as a conservatory-trained teacher. Her blend of classical music training and contemporary vocal styles has piqued the interest of fans and critics alike. She has been training during her life to be on the LSC stage having studied music theory, piano, cello, keyboard, chamber music, and dance. She just completed her a master’s degree in music theory, music pedagogy, and “pop singing” at IMEP in Namur and she is been working hard to earn a spot at LSC. We are sure her extensive training in music and dance, will make her a great contender for the win.
- One Last Time: This pop-rock band has been steadily building its reputation, having participated in last year’s LSC finishing in 6th place with their hit “Devil in the Detail” and performed at various clubs and festivals. The band composed by Andrea Galleti, Jonathan Fersino, Tom Sagramola, Alessandro Sorbello, and Barbara Salvi, have been preparing their debut album which will be released next 2025 with a headline show in Luxembourg on 8th of February 2025. Their energetic stage presence and heartfelt songwriting make them a strong contender. They have been working very hard during the last year, and their determination and perseverance to represent Luxembourg at Eurovision stage, has taken them this far. We are excited to hear what this promising band brings to the LSC stage.
- Luzac: Known for his work in urban pop, Luzac has evolved from composing for other artists to creating his own music. A music teacher himself and violin player, his ability to combine catchy melodies with emotionally resonant lyrics sets him apart in this year’s competition. His first single “J’y arriverai” in 2021, served as a presentation of his era as a singer rather than songwriter, and while he is working on his first album, LSC is the best stage for big audience to get to know him and hear hist stories through his music. We are sure he will surprise us.
- Rhythmic Soulwave: This multicultural ensemble conformed by Mael Fontana, Leopold Strauβ, Angela Aguilera Caballero, Diego Lucero, Zakar Lörinc and Carmen Carbonnel Suarez represents the global appeal of the current music of Luxembourg. This group involving cultures from Luxembourg, Spain, Cuba and Hungary, with influences ranging from jazz and Latin American music to classical and pop rock, are known for their musically intricate and universally appealing performances. We look forward to see how these blends of cultures and music styles come to life on the LSC big stage next 25th of January.
- MÄNA: A classically trained violinist and flutist at the Regional School of Music in Dudelange, MÄNA has recently ventured into modern pop. Her previous single “Stay” in 2023 demonstrated her ability to merge classical instrumentation with contemporary production, earning her widespread acclaim. Promising to bring al her musical knowledge and talent, MÄNA is one to watch out,
- Rafa Ela: A veteran of Luxembourg’s music scene having participated at Next Popstar in 2016 and Top Voice Luxembourg in 2018, Rafa Ela’s experience in national competitions and her transition to a solo artist bring a sense of seasoned artistry to the lineup. After coming 5th last year with Angy with the song “Drop” at last year’s edition of LSC2024 , she is been working hard since then with internationally famous and Eurovision successful songwriters like Linnea Deb, who wrote the Swedish entry for ESC 2024 “Unforgettable” by Marcus and Martinus, which finished 9th overall last May in Malmö. Will she be entering LSC 2025 with such a banger written by ESC successful songwriters? We cannot wait to find out very soon!
- Zero Point Five: A crowd favorite since 2009, this folk-pop-country band formed by Federico (Kiko) Menichetti, Gilles Saracini, and Christophe Reitz has been entertaining audiences for over a decade. Their infectious energy and polished live performances make them one to watch in this year’s contest as their popularity in Luxembourg could expand oversees sooner than we expect if they manage to click with the European audience while maintaining their essence.
With this, the 7 potential songs that will fight for the ticket to Basel next 25th of January, will be release in couple of weeks in mid-December.
The Shocking Non-Qualifiers that we will miss this year
While excitement surrounds the finalists, the absence of two major names has sparked significant debate among fans. Krick, the runner-up in LSC2024 with her emotional and heartbreaking “Drowning in the rain” written by one of the most loved Norwegian Eurovision names, Elsie Bay, was widely expected to return stronger than ever but failed to secure a spot in the national final, even if she has been working very hard during the last year taking advantage of her huge momentum both in Luxembourg and beyond. However, we strongly believe that all the love she has received since last Monday when the finalists were announced, will only push her to continue fighting for her Eurovision spot in the near future. Similarly, Chaild, a fan favorite known for his heartfelt performances, did not make the cut, leaving many wondering the jury’s criteria this year. Their exclusion adds an element of unpredictability to the contest and highlights the fierce competition among this year’s entries. We are sure the committee comprised by very well-known Eurovision world faces such as the winner of ESC 2011, Eldar, from Azerbaijan, and Poli Genova (Bulgaria 2011,2016) and Niamh Kavanagh (Ireland 2010 and winner for Ireland on 1993), prioritised the variety and quality of the chosen songs over anything else. Thus, we are very excited to hear those 7 songs that will be competing next 25th of January at the LSC 2025 stage in few week’s time in mid-Dicember.
Looking Ahead: High Expectations for LSC2025

The path to Basel begins on January 25, 2025, at Rockhal.
