UA:PBC has opened submissions for their 2018 national selection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. This year, they will hold an online final to spend the least amount of money on the project.
Ukraine will finally take part at this year’s Junior Eurovision after having got the necessary funds to compete. However, unlike previous years, the broadcaster has decided to select their next representative through an online national final to avoid the costs of a televised show.
All interested children aged 9-14 can send their videos from now until the 20th of August by filling the form available on the official website of this year’s Ukrainian selection https://junior.eurovision.ua/. The candidates have to send a video of themselves singing their original songs along with pre-recorded backing voices and music.
The original songs need to meet the requirement of the international competition:
- Songs from 2.45 to 3.00 minutes are allowed to enter the contest.
- The lyrics must include at least 60% of the text in Ukrainian while up to 40% of the lyrics can be in English
- The song mustn’t have been made publish before May 1, 2018.
You can find the full set of rules and other documents in Ukrainian here.
When the submission period closes, a professional jury panel will select 10 finalists that will face an online voting from which the winner will represent Ukraine at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Minsk.
CORRECTION: The lyrics must include at least 60% of the text in Ukrainian while up to 40% of the lyrics can be in English or other languages
