It’s Svala for Iceland!

Iceland has chosen! After three exciting weeks of shows, we have finally discovered who will wave the country’s flag at Eurovision 2017. Svala has gone through all the national selection stages, so she will represent Iceland in Kyiv after winning this year’s Söngvakeppnin.

Svala will perform the song “Paper” in the First Semi-Final of Eurovision 2017:

Today all candidates performed the version of their song they wanted to sing at Eurovision. Six contenders chose the English version, while Hildur sang her song in a mix of Icelandic and English. You can find the the songs that competed at the Icelandic final below:

  7. Daði Freyr Pétursson – Is this love?

The winner and Icelandic hope for Eurovision 2017 was decided by a mix of public vote and professional expert panel after two voting rounds. This year, the jury panel was made up of seven members from five countries, four judges from abroad and three local ones. The international judges were Måns Zelmerlöw (Sweden), Julia Zemiro (Australia), Bruno Berberes (France), Milica Fajgelj (Serbia) and Snorri Helgason (Iceland). This was the first time RUV featured international judges at Söngvakeppnin.

In the first round, a 50/50 combination of SMS vote and jury panel outcome decided two acts that went through to the superfinal from which the overall winner was selected by solely televote. You can find the two superfinalists below:
