Jowst wins Melodi Grand Prix 2017 in Norway

Melodi Grand Prix 2017 has just come to an end and after an exciting show in Oslo Spektrum, Norway has finally picked somebody to send to Kiev for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest: it will be Jowst with “Grab The Moment“.

The show was hosted by Norwegian TV personalities Line Elvsåshagen and Kåre Magnus Bergh.

The 4 finalists proclaimed by the combination of the votes from an international jury panel and the Norwegian televoting were:

  • JOWST – “Grab The Moment”
  • Ulrikke – “Places”
  • Elin & The Woods – “First step in faith/Oadjebasvuhtii”
  • Ammunition – “Wrecking Crew”

After months of preparations receiving thousands of songs, the TV station got to choose 10 acts internally, take a look at them all below (winner in bold):

The winner and Norwegian representative in Kiev was chosen over two voting rounds of public televoting and as a new feature, an international jury panel. 10 different countries awarded from 1-8, 10 and 12 points to their favorite songs. The juries had a total of 580 points to give out and also 580 points were awarded by the Norwegian public, thus the 4 songs with the most points proceeded to the Gold-final. 100% regional televoting eventually decided the winner.

What do you think of the Norwegian song for Kiev? Will they get to improve Agnete’s result and make it to the final in May?

Stay tuned!
