Interview Eurovision Eurovision 2015 Sweden

Neverstore: “Our entry is a big rock song about losing someone” (Melodifestivalen participants – Interview)

ESC+Plus has talked to Neverstore, semifinalists of the Swedish national selection for Eurovision 2015 “Melodifestivalen”. The band will sing “If I Was God For One Day” in the second semifinal set on February 17.

ESC+Plus: Hi guys! First of all congratulations on having been selected for Melodifestivalen 2015

Thank you! We are really looking forward to the competition.

E+: Can you tell us about you, your musical evolution and important achievements?

We started the band back in 2000 and since then we`ve released 4 albums, won 2 MTV Music Awards and toured Sweden, Europe and Japan. Musically we have a more wide range of songs now then from the first album, both rockier and softer, but we always maintain our punkrock-bas.

E+: Why did you decide to enter Melodifestivalen this year?

The time was right for us to try something new. We already have achieved so much in our career but Melodifestivalen really is a new challenge for us and hopefully more people discover our music through this.

E+: What it would mean for you to represent Sweden at Eurovision?

That would be a huge honour of course but at the same time put a lot of pressure on us! Right now we`re just focusing on our performance in Malmö but sure, it would be great to participate in Vienna!

E+: Can you tell us about your song “If I Was God For One Day” and the story behind the lyrics? How was the composition procedure?

Jacob wrote the song together with Tomas Gson and John Gordon and then we rehearsed and recorded it with our Neverstore-sound. It’s a big rock song about losing someone and the feeling you can get when you want to rewind the time and change things around. It really is a perfect song for arenas and Melodifestivalen.

E+: How are you preparing your stage performance? Can you reveal us anything about it?

We want to keep the details secret but it`s gonna be a powerful and grandiose number! We are rehearsing and practicing a lot these days.

E+: What are your main strengths so as to get the people’s support to reach Eurovision?

Besides our kickass-song I think that the fact that we already been around for 15 years will help. We have Amazing fans and hopefully our stage experience will reach the viewers through the screens.

E+: If you win Melodifestivalen, would you sing in Swedish or in English at Eurovision?

The song is written in English and besides one song of our older songs we always sings in English so we´re not changing anything this time.

E+: Do you usually watch Eurovision? Do you have any favorite song in the story of the contest?

We all grew up watching Melodifestivalen and even if we have missed a couple of races the last years we always try to see some of it. For favourites we all love the old ABBA songs and Loreen’s Euphoria really is a killer!

E+: Besides Eurovision, what are your other plans for this year?

Melodifestivalen is our biggest show this year but at the same time it marks the kickoff for our spring and summer tour. We´re playing in all parts of Sweden and hopefully Europe as well. Beside that we also looking forward to release a couple of more new songs so it`s gonna be a great year!

E+: What is your favorite music style? And favourite singers?

We like all kinds of music and singer these days, from pop to s/s and metal.

E+: Finally, would you like to send a message for our readers?

Take care of each other and hope to see you in Vienna!
