Eurovision 2024 held its second semifinal this Thursday, where we got to know the last 10 finalists who join the 10 qualifiers from the first semifinal and the pre-qualified group formed by the BIG5 + organizer. We already know 26 countries that will be in the grand final this Saturday, May 11th.

The show started at 21:00 CEST with the presenters coming out of the “UV Ray Sandwich Maker” and singing “Tattoo” as they arrived at the Eurovision stage. The gala lasted for 2 hours and 22 minutes, and we could enjoy performances from, among others, Eurovision winners Helena Paparizou (2005), Sertab Erener (2003), and Charlotte Perrelli (1999) in a movie-like sing-along, as well as Käärijä (Finland 2023) in another interval act with the presenters, or The Herreys, winners of Eurovision 1984. In this second semifinal, some of the favorites of the Eurovision 2024 edition performed, such as Nemo, the representative of Switzerland, Joost Klein, the representative of the Netherlands, or Kaleen, the representative of Austria.

The second semifinal got high ratings in Sweden and Denmark and achieved very good ratings among the Big5 countries.

Among the audience data, Sweden stands out, where the Eurovision 2024 2nd semifinal once again got high ratings with a 65.69% market share and an average of 1,358,000 viewers. In Denmark, the second semifinal, where they did not make it to the final, also had high ratings with a 61.3% audience share and an average of 672,938 viewers. In Greece, the semi-final achieved a high 38.5% market share with Marina Satti’s qualification.

Eurovision 2024 second semifinal of also garnered very good ratings in Austria, where the gala was watched by an average of 600,400 viewers with a 25.5% market share. The second semifinal was watched by 97,600 viewers in Slovenia, reaching a 16% market share. In Portugal, where the gala was broadcasted with a delay, the second semifinal of Eurovision 2024 was watched from 22:40 local time by 7.3% of the audience, with an average of 183,400 viewers.

Among the Big5 members, the United Kingdom stands out, the co-organizer of the last edition of the contest, broadcasted the second semifinal on its main channel, BBC One, where it was watched by 1,760,000 viewers, reaching a 15.41% market share. In Italy, the second semifinal achieved 2,817,000 viewers (13.93% market share) with the broadcast on RAI 2. Germany regained viewers compared to 2023 with the broadcast of the 2st semifinal on ONE, with a total of 660,000 viewers and a 3% market share. Meanwhile, in Spain, the second semifinal regained ground with 1,285,000 viewers and a 10.4% market share, being the 3rd option in its time slot.
