Linus Svenning: “During my performance there is gonna be some big drums and a lot of fire (Melodifestivalen participant – Interview)

ESC+Plus has talked to Linus Svenning, semifinalists of the Swedish national selection for Eurovision 2015 “Melodifestivalen”. Linus will sing “Forever Starts Today” in the second semifinal set on February 14.

ESC+Plus: Hi Linus! First of all congratulations on having been selected for Melodifestivalen 2015.

E+: Can you tell us about you and your important achievements?

I think my most important achievement was when i got my ”break” trough You Tube, it was amazing to see the hits go from a couple of thousands, to millions.

E+: Why did you decide to enter “Melodifestivalen” 2015?

Well, I think most of Sweden haven’t been able to see the ”real” me. Last year it was a tribute to my brother who I lost. This year it’s about letting things go, and to start fresh. It’s an emotional music production with good lyrics in English this year! So I did it mostly because I want to show people what I got, and what I can deliver!

E+: How did you experience the last year’s competition?

Last year, there were so many good songs and artists. So I really thought I had no chance, even getting to the finals!

 

 

E+: What it would mean for you to represent Sweden in Vienna?

It would blow me away, seriously! I would be honoured to represent Sweden

E+: Your song is called “Forever Starts Today”. Can you tell us about the song and the story behind the lyrics? How was the composition procedure?

The composition of the song started out a little bit too much ”dance”. So we decided to record some real strings to it, change the beat and remove the dance pads, and at that day, ”Forever Starts Today” was reborn! The story is just basically to start over, to let things go and allow yourself to be happy!

E+: How are you preparing your stage performance? Can you reveal us anything about it?

Two things I can say is that there is gonna be some big drums, and a lot of fire! 😉 Completely different compared to last year’s show.

E+: What are your main strengths so as to get the people support to reach Eurovision?

I don’t know really, I think it’s my ability to send an emotion. And I hope they will feel it this year as well, even though it’s through a TV!

E+: If you win the Melodifestivalen, would you sing in Swedish or in English at Eurovision?

E+: Do you usually watch Eurovision? Do you have any favourite song in the story of the contest?

It was totally sick and unexpected when Lordi won 2006! I really liked their whole thing. The costumes, the melodies and lyrics.

E+: Besides Eurovision, what are your plans for this year?

We got some pretty awesome English songs on their way out and there will be another tour!

E+: What is your favourite music style? Who is your favourite singer?

I don’t really have a favourite music style. I listen to all good music! 😉
