ESC+Plus has talked to the “Maltese warrior” Amber Bondin! Amber will represent Malta at Eurovision 2015 with the song “Warrior” after winning MESC 2014-15.

Check out what she has told us below!

ESC+Plus: Hello Amber! Congratulations on winning the Maltese national selection for Eurovision 2015 and thanks for giving us the chance to have a little talk with you.

The Maltese selection was a large process, how did you experience the whole contest? What do you think it was the most special moment of MESC 2014?

Although it was a long process, it is something which I really enjoyed doing and participating in. I tried to manage my time as well as possible to make sure that I was able to enjoy it as much as I could. Without a doubt my favourite moment of this year’s MESC was on the final night when the jury announced the result. I cannot describe the magnificent feeling I felt.

E+: What was the first thing that came to your mind when you realized you had won the contest? What does representing Malta at Eurovision mean for you?

Representing Malta and the Maltese is obviously a huge honour for me. As soon as the results were announced I couldn’t believe it.

E+: You had already taken part at MESC before but you wasn’t enough lucky to reach Eurovision, what are the differences between this year’s participation and your previous’ ones? What elements helped you to get the trophy?

Every time I participated in the MESC, I always did my utmost. The difference this year was that ‘Warrior’ was written specifically for me. It is a song to which anyone can relate. As soon as people heard ‘Warrior’, it was no longer simply my entry, but a song people had fallen in love with.

E+: Can you tell us what your song is about? What’s the story behind the lyrics?

The song has a motivational message to which anyone can relate. It is meant to inspire anyone who is facing obstacles to conquer them and move on.

E+: Your song is composed by Elton Zarb and Matt Muxu Mercieca who were also in charge of the Junior entrants 2013 and 2014, how did you feel when they first presented you the song “Warrior”?

The song was never presented to me as a finished product. I was involved in the first stages of the writing process where we discussed for hours different phases of our lives which we’ve been through. After that, Matt Muxu Mercieca together with Elton Zarb, created ‘Warrior’.

E+: You are a student of “La Voix” academy and you share vocal coach with Gaia Cauchi (Winner of JESC 2013) and Federica Falzon (JESC 2014 Malta). Have they given you any advice?

I have talked with both Gaia and Federica and they have told me about their experience throughout their journey in the JESC. They are very sweet.

E+: You were part of the Junior Eurovision 2014 interval act held in Malta the week before MESC, how did you experience the first Eurovision event in your country?

I took part in the interval show during this year’s JESC as part of the Animae Gospel Choir. I was very proud of how the Maltese put on a first class show for millions across Europe to enjoy.

E+: Tell us the most important achievements you have reached until the date.

I am very proud of everything I have achieved so far, no matter how small. However, my biggest achievement is having a song which means so much for so many people, for so many reasons.

E+: What do you do in your free time? Do you have any favourite hobby?

I have many hobbies but I don’t have as much free time which I would like. When I do get free time, I like to spend it with my family and friends.

E+: If you could be invisible for a day, what would you do?

If I could be invisible for a day I would travel as much as possible, since no passport or ticket would be needed.

E+: Can you send a message for our readers and fans of the competition?

I would like to thank everyone who has helped me throughout my participation in Eurovision. All of this wouldn’t have been possible without their feedback and support. Keep following me on the official Maltese ESC Facebook page EurovisionSongMalta.
