Tonight, Iceland’s annual song competition for the Eurovision Song Contest moved on with its second qualifying round and as usual, RÚV did not let the fans down by just having delivered an exciting show like last week. After all, two acts would have to advance to the grand final taking place on the 2nd of March at Iceland’s biggest indoor arena, Laugardalshöll, located in Reykjavik.
Five acts performed on stage at tonight’s show but it was the overall combination of the votes from a professional jury and the Icelandic audience votes which decided the ones still opting for the ticket to Tel Aviv in May, take a look at the qualifiers below (in bold):
- Elli Grill, Skaði og Glymur – Jeijó, keyrum alla leið
- Friðrik Ómar – Hvað ef ég get ekki elskað? / What If I Can’t Have Love?
- Ívar Daníels – Þú bætir mig / Make Me Whole
- Heiðrún Anna – Helgi / Sunday Boy
- Tara Mobee – Betri án þín / Fighting For Love
Four acts will make up the final line-up so far and it is yet to be decided by the organizers whether to pick a wildcard though.
The two acts already in the final are:
- Hatari – Hatrið mun sigra
- Hera Björk – Eitt Andartak / Moving On
Later, it was announced that Kristína Skoubo Bærendsen will join the final line-up as the winner of the special wildcard.
The winner of Söngvakeppnin 2019 will compete in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest, more specifically in the second half of the first semi-final as drawn at the Allocation Draw which took place a few days ago in Tel Aviv.
