Iceland: Christmas musicals season starts with Eurovision faces

Iceland is a Eurovision country with a small population but a big number of talented artists and composers.

Many Icelandic Eurovision artists are now working hard to perform in different musicals during the forthcoming Christmas season, they will be performing in some tours to take place around the country: Frostrósir and Jólin alls staðar.

Frostrósir is one of the most popular musical events in Iceland, created eleven years ago It is going to make stop this year to come back in the future. Some Eurovision stars will appear on stage in this edition: Hera Björk (2010), Regina Osk (2008) and Friðrik Ómar (2008); special guest at the final concert will be Greta Salóme (2012)Erna Hrönn (Söngvakeppni)Heiða Ólafs (Söngvakeppni) and Guðrún Árný (Söngvakeppni).

Frostrósir’s shows will take place on November 30 in Feroe Islands, December 21 in Reykjavík (Laugardalshöll) – FINAL CONCERT, December 6 in Akureyri and December 7 in Reykjavík (Harpa).

 

Another Christmas’ show by Frostrósir is Jólin alls staðar, a tour that will go to 20 different Icelandic cities and villages (December 3rd – December 19). Friðrik Ómar (2008), Gréta Salóme (2012), Jógvan (Söngvakeppni) and Heiða Ólafs (Söngvakeppni) will be travelling around Iceland to sing in Christmas’ songs in different churches.

 

Many Eurovision faces have performed in past Frostroses’ spectacles like Eiríkur Hauksson (1986, 2007, 1991), Eyþór Ingi (2013), Stefán Hilmarsson (1988, 1991), Eldgos (Sjónni’s Friends, 2011). A special Frostroses edition took place in 2007: The European Divas (including Sissel Kirkjebö, Patrica Bardon and Eleftheria Arvanitaki), the show can be seen here.
