FYR Macedonia joins the party, 43 countries will compete at Eurovision 2018

FYR Macedonia will finally be competing in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018! EBU has confirmed that the country has managed to settle its debt in time, so their access to EBU’s Member services has been restored and they will be able to take part in Lisbon. This increases the list of participants to 43.

A few days ago, EBU announced that the Macedonian broadcaster had lost the access to Member Services as a result of non-payment of debt, so they couldn’t take part in Eurovision as things stood. However, MRT and EBU have solved the situation and the country will finally take part in the 2018 competition.

Jon Ola Sand, the EBU’s Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest, said “The EBU and MRT have worked quickly to find a resolution on this matter together, which ensures that MRT are able to join us in the Eurovision Song Contest once again, and we are pleased to announce that this has now been possible. This means we will have a record-equalling number of countries participating in Lisbon, and we are very confident that those are successful in purchasing tickets will enjoy their Eurovision experience next year.”

The final list of participating countries looks as follows:

43 countries make a record number of participants equalling the one set in Belgrade in 2008 and Düsseldorf in 2011.

  1. Zdravo, Makedonija! Let’s get the former Yugoslav nation back in the grand final. Maybe one of the following could fly Macedonia’s colors in Lisbon:

    * Anja Veterova
    * Barbara Popović
    * Bobi Andonov
    * Dorijan Dlaka
    * Magdalena Aleksovska
    * Viktorija Loba
