The grand final of the Irish national selection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2017 will be aired today. Six candidates will compete to represent Ireland next week in Tbilisi.
The winners of the semi-finals will compete in the Irish final, while two candidates join the line-up after a second chance:
- Muireann McDonnell – “Súile Glasa”
- Gwenaelle Noval – “Lig Dom Lomrú”
- Úna Ní Mhistéil – “Álann”
- Sinéad Carr – “Cén Fáth”
- Judy Langan – “Draíocht An Cheoil”
- Mini Mix – “Cairde Go Deo”
Once again, the show will be hosted by Eoghan McDermott. This time, the resident judges, Fiachna Ó Braonáin, Bláthnaid Treacy and Dustin the Turkey (2008), will be joined by Linda Martin (1984, 1992).
As in previous editions, all shows have been filmed months ago, and they will be broadcast pre-recorded. That means the winner, who was chosen by the judges, has been already working for months on preparations for the international song contest. The 32 entrants that will be featured on the live shows were selected through live auditions held nationwide. They competed with self-written original songs in the Irish language.
The grand final of Junior Eurovision Éire will be broadcast today at 22.20 CET on TG4.
