Eurovision 2024: Last day for Swedish cities to submit hosting bids

Today, June 12th 2023, is the last day to submit hosting bids to the Swedish national broadcaster, SVT. The expectation is that five cities will send in a bid to host. The deadline is 23:59 tonight.

What we know so far

We know for sure that two cities are going to send in a bid, these are Sweden’s capital, Stockholm, and Sweden’s second biggest city, Gothenborg. It would be the fourth time that Stockholm would organize the contest, and it would be the second time for Gothenborg.

There are five cities that have shown an interest, but it is not sure whether they will actually send in a bid, these cities are: Eskilstuna, Jönköping, Malmö (host of 1992 and 2013), Örnsköldsvik, and Partille. There is also a chance that Linköping is going to send in a bid, but there is no public information concerning this possible bid.

When will we know the Swedish host city?

In 2013 and 2016 respectively the Swedish host city was made public on July 8th, so we hope that we can inform you on the same date about where the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will take place.

Eurovision 2023

This year’s contest is won by Sweden’s Loreen with the song “Tattoo”. Loreen’s win marks the first time a female singer has won the Eurovision Song Contest twice, since Loreen also won the 2012 song contest with the song “Euphoria”, which is one of the most successful songs in Eurovision history. Next to this, Loreen is the second singer to win the contest twice; Irish Johnny Logan came before her.
