Today, Wednesday, 9 March, the band premieres their song “Lock Me In” with which they will represent the country at Eurovision 2022. The video clip of the song will not be released with the song due to the ongoing war in Ukraine

The band has released a statement in which they announce that the video clip was too colourful and cheerful for the current situation, and as the deadline for the release of the song was next Sunday, the video they were going to release hand in hand with the song will not be released.

ABOUT CIRCUS MIRCUS

“Circus Mircus was formed in Tbilisi in 2020 by three alumni of the circus academy in the Georgian capital. They claim they were the least talented of the whole circus group and that is why they became friends. Not considering themselves good enough for the circus, they decided to try their luck in the world of music. Their identity remains a mystery because, as they announced, the members of the group would make themselves known to the public in stages through “dosed” announcements.

According to themselves, “Circus Mircus” is a movement that brings together dozens of professionals from different fields to create an unprecedented audiovisual experience. Their philosophy is based on the absolute rejection of traditional musical frameworks in which a singer or band can’t step out of a specific musical genre. That is why they define their sound as “unique” as it encompasses a variety of genres, intricately reflecting the inner world and life experience of each member of the band. Moreover, for them the visual aspect is as important as the sound.

They also said in an interview published on their social media that they intend to win the crystal microphone next May in Turin and that, in case of victory, they hope to receive one million Laris from the Georgian state, just like their Olympic champions.

GEORGIA AT EUROVISION

Georgia made its debut at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 in Helsinki with Sopho Khalvashi and her song Visionary Dream, which came 12th with 97 points. Since then, the Caucasian country has participated in every edition of the Song Contest except 2009, when the song chosen to be performed by Sopho Khalvashi, We Don’t Wanna Put In, was disqualified by the EBU for containing political lyrics against Vladimir Putin.

After being chosen internally the previous year, Tornike Kipiani represented Georgia at Eurovision 2021 in Rotterdam. He did not qualify in the second semi-final after achieving a 16th place with 16 points: 1 from the jury and 15 from the tele-vote.
