PBS has just revealed the national selection format through which they will select their representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. The broadcaster will air the Maltese version of the successful TV format X Factor which will be the new national final for the international competition.
The Maltese public broadcaster has decided to implement a new selection format to improve their recent results at Eurovision bringing the worldwide talent show to the island. The first edition of X Factor Malta will start to be broadcast in October 2018, while more details will be revealed soon. PBS has announced that the winner or winners of the talent show will represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019.
Malta has missed the last two Eurovision Grand Finals as both Claudia Faniello and Christabelle didn’t manage to make it through the semifinals.
When Malta launches the X-Factor this fall, PBS will have to make sure that contestants are aged 16 or older. 🙂
