This is Søren Torpegaard Lund, early years and training

Søren Torpegaard Lund was born in Gudme and grew up in the small town of Oure, in a quiet environment that fostered the development of his artistic sensitivity from a very early age. During his school years, he became interested in theatre and singing, soon discovering that his true vocation lay on stage.

At just 17 years old, he took a decisive step by entering the prestigious performing arts academy in Fredericia, becoming the youngest student ever to achieve this. There he received comprehensive training in acting, singing, and dance, completing his studies in 2019 with a solid foundation that would mark the beginning of his professional career.

His entry into the professional world was swift, participating in major Danish musical theatre productions. He quickly established himself as one of the country’s young talents, standing out especially for his stage and vocal versatility. Among his most notable roles is his performance in the musical West Side Story, playing the role of Tony at the Copenhagen Opera House. He has also been part of other major musicals such as Grease, Kinky Boots, and Dance of the Vampires. In 2021, his talent was recognized with the Reumert Talent Award, one of the most important performing arts awards in Denmark.

After several years focused on theatre, Søren decided to explore a more personal side as a singer and songwriter. In 2023 he participated in the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix with the song “Lige her”, managing to connect with both the public and critics. That same year he began releasing his own music, combining musical theatre influences with contemporary pop. In 2024 he released his first EP, Øjesten, showcasing a more intimate and authentic style.

In 2026 he returned to the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix with “Før vi går hjem”, a more mature entry that led him to win the competition and represent Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, the biggest international stage of his career. He is also a visible figure within the LGBTQ+ community in his country.

This is “Før Vi Går Hjem,” Søren Torpegaard Lund’s entry to represent Denmark at Eurovision 2026

Søren Torpegaard Lund represents Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with “Før Vi Går Hjem” (Before We Go Home), a song composed by the artist himself together with Thomas Meilstrup, Valdemar Littauer Bendixen, and Clara Sofie Fabricius.

“Før Vi Går Hjem” fully embraces Danish in its Eurovision entry, something that had not happened since Rotterdam 2021 with “Øve Os På Hinanden” by Fyr og Flamme.

The song depicts an intense and almost addictive attraction between two people. Although it is not good for them, they always give in, bringing together desire, weakness, and lack of control. In a nighttime setting, as an escape, everything becomes intense, passionate, chaotic, and fleeting. However, the dawn symbolizes a return to reality and regret.

Lyrics

Danish

Min krop den skriger
Kan du høre den?
Jeg burde sig’ nej
Sagde det var sidste gang
Men du har mig
Ja du har mig

Du er så syrlig
Du smelter på min tunge
Helt ustyrlig

Natten binder

English

My body’s screaming
Can you hear the sound?
I should refuse it
Say it’s the last time now
But you got me
Yeah you got me

Sweet and acidic
You’re melting on my tongue
Guess I’m an addict
And I’m so freaking dumb
But you got me
Yeah you got me

Kiss me, take my heart and break it again
(But) please say that this night will nev-ever end

Let the night go up in flames till we forget who we are
Hold on to each other till we burn in the fire
Knowing that tomorrow always pulls us apart
Before we go,
Before we go,
Before we go,
Before we go, ‘fore we go home

I think I’m fading
In neon lights and smoke
So won’t you take me
Into your eyes wide open
You got me
Yeah you got me

Kiss me, take my heart and break it again
(But) please say that this night will nev-ever end

Let the night go up in flames till we forget who we are
Hold on to each other till we burn in the fire
Knowing that tomorrow always pulls us apart
Before we go,
Before we go,
Before we go,
Before we go, ‘fore we go home

Kiss me, take my heart and break it again
break it again
(But) please say that this night will nev-ever end
Before we go, ‘fore we go home

Kiss me, take my heart and break it again

The heart knows what it wants – just let it decide

Let the night go up in flames till we forget who we are
Hold on to each other till we burn in the fire
Knowing that tomorrow always pulls us apart
Before we go,
Before we go,
Before we go,
Before we go, ‘fore we go home

Let the night go up in flames till we forget who we are
Hold on to each other till we burn in the fire
Knowing that tomorrow always pulls us apart
Before we go,
Before we go,
Before we go,
Before we go, ‘fore we go home

Denmark at Eurovision: A Quick History

Denmark debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957 and has achieved three victories throughout its history. The first came in 1963 with Grethe and Jørgen Ingmann and “Dansevise”.

Decades later, it won again in 2000 with Olsen Brothers and “Fly on the Wings of Love”, and its most recent victory was in 2013 with Emmelie de Forest and “Only Teardrops”. Although the country has achieved several Top 10 results, in recent years it has gone through a difficult period with multiple semifinal eliminations.

In 2024, Saba also failed to qualify for the final with “Sand”. Last year, they returned to the final for the first time since 2019 with Sissal and her popular “Hallucination”, which did not go beyond 23rd place.
