The Eurovision Song Contest is heading towards its 70th edition, which will take place in Vienna (Austria) on May 12, 14, and 16 at the Wiener Stadthalle.
Little by little, the participating countries are immersed in preparations to refine the details of their entries with which they will compete to win the coveted glass microphone.
The Eurovision season has brought several familiar names for fans of the contest, and among them stands out San Marino, which has once again placed its trust in an artist with a long career linked to the competition. The small republic has once again chosen SENHIT, who managed to win its selection process and secure a ticket to Vienna.
How has her journey back to Eurovision been? What experience does she bring from the stage? What can she contribute in this new European adventure?
On this occasion, we review the musical career of SENHIT, the context of her candidacy, and her song. The San Marino representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 will attempt to achieve qualification for the Grand Final with “Superstar”, in what will be San Marino’s 17th participation in the European contest.
This is SENHIT, from Bologna to the major European stages
Senhit, born in Bologna in the late seventies, is a singer and actress of Eritrean origin whose career is characterized by its versatility and international reach. She grew up in a multicultural environment between Italy and San Marino, a key influence in building an open and diverse artistic identity. Before dedicating herself to music, she studied visual communication and played football, although she soon found her true vocation on stage.
Her beginnings are rooted in musical theatre, where she gained solid performance training. She took part in major successful productions such as Fame, The Lion King—where she played Nala in Germany—and Hair. These experiences allowed her to develop a strong stage presence and consolidate her artistic profile. Later, she decided to focus on pop music, signing her first record deal in the mid-2000s. She released several albums, first in Italian and later in English, seeking to expand her international reach.
Her relationship with the Eurovision Song Contest began in 2011, when she represented San Marino with «Stand By». Although she did not manage to qualify for the final, the contest gave her visibility in Europe. She returned in 2020 with «Freaky!», but the cancellation of the contest postponed her participation. Finally, in 2021 she performed «Adrenalina», alongside rapper Flo Rida, managing to qualify San Marino for the final and delivering a highly memorable performance.
In recent years, Senhit has evolved towards a more contemporary sound, blending pop, electronic and urban elements. She has released numerous singles and international collaborations, consolidating this phase with the album Dangerous in 2024. Her career also includes tours, personal projects and a constant presence in media and digital platforms. Ahead of Eurovision 2026, Senhit presents «Superstar», a proposal that features a collaboration with Boy George. The song combines influences from different generations and styles, betting on a message of empowerment, authenticity and artistic freedom.
This is “Superstar”, the proposal by SENHIT to represent San Marino at Eurovision 2026
SENHIT returns to represent San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with “Superstar”, alongside pop star Boy George. The song has been composed by the artist herself together with an international team led by Anderz Wrethov, George Alan O’Dowd, Julie Aagaard, John-Emil Johansson, and Thomas Stengaard.
“Superstar” is a pop track with electronic sounds that conveys a message of empowerment and self-acceptance. In a nocturnal atmosphere full of lights, music, and appearances, the protagonist appears insecure at first, but determined to show herself as she truly is. Despite the wounds of the past, each person has a unique value and deserves to shine, leaving fear behind, embracing their own identity, and expressing themselves with confidence to celebrate authenticity.
Lyrics
English
All the boys
In the back
Wearing black
Looking like
(They’re) Up to something
All the girls on the floor
Looking for
Something more
(Like it’s) All or nothing
Neon nights
Smokey eyes
Dripping diamonds
Flashing lights,
And there you are
Ohhhhh
Look at you
Staring at your shoes
Like you´re scared or something
Oh baby there you are
Girl go and get it like a superstar
Girl go and do it for the broken hearts
Coz baby you’re a superstar
There you are
Girl go ahead and show them all your scars
Girl go and show exactly who you are
Let them know you’re a superstar
Baby you’re a gem
FREAKY QUEEN
Of 4am
You’re really something
And it’s about time
You get up
Show it off
What you’re becoming
They’re dropping jaws, on the floor
They never seen perfection like this before
Ohhhh
Baby I know that
You been to
Hell and back
(But) There is one thing
Oh baby there you are
Girl go and get it like a superstar
Girl go and do it for the broken hearts
Coz baby you’re a superstar
There you are
Girl go ahead and show them all your scars
Girl go and show exactly who you are
Let them know you’re a superstar
All the boys in the bar sipping cool Champagne
All the girls on the dancefloor freakin insane
You’re a superstar (scream)
Oh baby there you are
Girl go and get it like a superstar
Girl go and do it for the broken hearts
Coz baby you’re a superstar
There you are
Girl go ahead and show them all your scars
Girl go and show exactly who you are
Let them know you’re a superstar
