Who Are Abor & Tynna? Meet Germany’s Eurovision 2025 Representatives

Germany is ready to make a statement at Eurovision 2025 with Abor & Tynna and their song “Baller”, which secured the ticket to Basel after winning Chefsache ESC 2025 with overwhelming public support.

As the countdown continues to the 69th Eurovision Song Contest—set to take place on May 13, 15, and 17, 2025 at the St. Jakobshalle Arena in Basel, Switzerland—fans across Europe are getting to know the artists who will light up the stage. For Germany, it’s all eyes on Abor & Tynna, the dynamic duo poised to bring a modern twist to the contest.

Germany’s Big 5 Stars: Abor & Tynna

With “Baller,” Abor & Tynna will compete directly in the Grand Final on May 17 as part of the Big 5, securing their spot without the need to qualify through the semi-finals. They’re the first mixed-gender duo to represent Germany since Stone & Stone in 1995.

But who exactly are Abor & Tynna? How did they rise to fame? And what can Eurovision fans expect from their performance?

Let’s take a closer look at Germany’s new hopefuls for Eurovision 2025.

Abor & Tynna: The Story Behind the Duo

Behind the name Abor & Tynna are Austrian siblings Attila Bornemisza (born August 27, 1998) and Tünde Bornemisza (born December 22, 2000) from Vienna, Austria.

They grew up in an artistic family—their father, Csaba Bornemisza, is a cellist with the Vienna State Opera Orchestra since 1990 and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra since 1993, performing in the world-famous New Year’s Concerts every January 1st.

Their upbringing blended Transylvanian Romanian and Hungarian traditions, with a strict household that shaped their introspective, somewhat solitary personalities. Music was everywhere: their earliest memories include long car rides listening to Michael JacksonWham!, and Falco on their dad’s cassette tapes.

Today, Tünde is the lead vocalist, while Attila accompanies her on cello, fusing classical roots with modern pop, hip-hop, and electronic sounds under the label Jive Records. Their debut album, “Bittersüß”, launched them into the German-speaking music scene.

A Fusion of Classical and Modern Influences

Both siblings trained in classical music from a young age. Attila on cello, Tünde on flute (winning Austria’s “Prima la Musica” competition twice). But as teenagers, they gravitated towards new wave, rap, pop, and electronic music, blending diverse genres into their unique sound.

Their lyrics reflect contrasts: fun and tearsempowerment and vulnerability, packaged with Gen Z humor and a satirical edge.

Despite being Austrian, they entered Germany’s national selection thanks to their label’s German base and the lack of an Austrian national final. “It was our dream to reach Eurovision, and Germany gave us the platform,” they shared.

From Bedroom Beats to Eurovision Stage

Attila’s early experiments with GarageBand and Logic Pro sparked their music journey, eventually leading to Tünde recording vocals over his beats. Their mom uploaded their first track to social media—and soon, a producer reached out.

They debuted as Abor & Tynna in 2020 with “Anti Ally”, followed by viral hits like “Winx Club” (over 2 million streams) and singles like “Plattenpräsident” and “Coco Taxi.”

In 2024, their witty, satirical single “Küsschen” gained attention for its playful critique of Austrian high society, blending rap, pop, and Mozart references.

Their debut album “Bittersüß”, released in early 2025, explores 80s vibestechnonew wave, and discopop, balancing dance anthems with introspective ballads. Standout tracks include “Psst,” “Parallele Linien,” “Winnetou,” and “Babylon.”

German tour kicks off in September 2025, with dates in Frankfurt, Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, and Vienna.

Winning Chefsache ESC 2025

Germany’s revamped national selection, Chefsache ESC 2025, brought together 24 acts across live shows hosted by Barbara Schöneberger. A jury panel led by Stefan Raab, alongside Yvonne CatterfeldElton, and guest stars like Conchita Wurst, narrowed the field.

In the superfinal, Abor & Tynna triumphed with 34.91% of the televote, beating LYZA (“Lovers On Mars”) and Moss Kena (“Nothing Can Stop Love”). Their strong online voting performance secured their Eurovision ticket.

“Baller”: Germany’s Eurovision 2025 Song

Germany’s Eurovision 2025 entry is titled “Baller”—a wordplay between “baller” (to shoot) and colloquial German slang.

Written by Abor & Tynna with producer Alexander Hauer, “Baller” is a modern pop anthem sung entirely in German, marking Germany’s first all-German entry since 2007.

The song channels retro pop, electronic, and hip-hop influences, aiming for an empowering, upbeat vibe despite its breakup theme. “It’s a dance song, but also a breakup song I wrote after my own split last autumn,” Tünde explained.

With its bold hook—“what doesn’t kill me makes me look better”—“Baller” celebrates strength, healing, and moving forward.

Ich komm‘ nie wieder, egal was du mir sagst

Ich komm‘ nie wieder, egal was du mir sagst

Also wechsle ich Parfums
Und kauf‘ mir neues Gewand

Ich krieg‘ wieder diesen Drang
Ich will den Weltuntergang
Hah ich glaub’ das wars
I shoot for the stars

Ich komm‘ nie wieder, egal was du mir sagst

Ich komm‘ nie wieder, egal was du mir sagst

Weil deine Waffe, ist jetzt in meiner Hand

Ich setz‘ ein Punkt nach dem Satz
Als hätt‘ ich dich nie gekannt
Und dann wechsle ich Parfums
Und kauf‘ mir neues Gewand

Ich krieg‘ wieder diesen Drang
Ich will den Weltuntergang
Hah ich glaub’ das wars
I shoot for the stars

Ich komm‘ nie wieder, egal was du mir sagst

Ich komm‘ nie wieder, egal was du mir sagst

English

I shoot holes into the night
Stars fall and bang on my roof
It still hurts a little when I see you again, but
I’ll never come back, no matter what you say

I shoot holes into the night
Stars fall and bang on my roof
It still hurts a little when I see you again, but
I’ll never come back, no matter what you say

Chalk silhouettes on the sidewalk
A crime scene between us, like on CSI
You said “I’m sorry baby” for the first time
Should have known then, that was the end of us

You put a dot after the sentence
Like you never knew me
So I change perfumes
And buy myself a new outfit

I get that urge again
I want the end of the world
Hah, I think that’s it
I shoot for the stars

I shoot holes into the night
Stars fall and bang on my roof
It still hurts a little when I see you again, but
I’ll never come back, no matter what you say

I shoot holes into the night
Stars fall and bang on my roof
It still hurts a little when I see you again, but
I’ll never come back, no matter what you say

I see the shards of stars, on my skin like glitter
I’ve learned what doesn’t kill me only makes me prettier
Would you still catch a bullet for me?
Because your weapon is now in my hand

I’ll put a dot after the sentence
Like I never knew you
And then I’ll change perfumes
And buy myself a new outfit

I get that urge again
I want the end of the world
Hah, I think that’s it
I shoot for the stars

I shoot holes into the night
Stars are falling and banging on my roof
It still hurts a little when I see you again, but
I’ll never come back, no matter what you say

I shoot holes into the night
Stars fall and bang on my roof
It still hurts a little when I see you again, but
I’ll never come back, no matter what you say
