Eurovision Eurovision 2018 Iceland

Tonight: First Semi-Final of Söngvakeppnin 2018 takes place in Iceland

The first Semi-Final of Iceland’s National Selection Show, Söngvakeppnin, will take place tonight.

Six Icelandic Eurovision hopefuls will kick off their Eurovision journey tonight in the first Semi-Final of Söngvakeppnin 2018 – these acts and their songs (with English translation) are:

  • Ari Ólafsson – Heim/Our choice
  • Fókus hópurinn – Aldrei gefast upp/Battleline
  • Þórunn Antonía – Ég mun skína/Shine
  • Guðmundur Þórarinsson – Litir / Colours
  • Tómas Helgi Wehmeier & Sólborg Guðbrandsdóttir – Ég og þú/Think it through
  • Heimilistónar – Kúst og fæjó

The winner of Söngvakeppnin 2018 will be decided through Televote only and the top 3 acts will go through to the final on March 3rd. The second Semi-Final will take place next week with the top 3 from that round meeting the top 3 from this one.

Iceland has never won the Eurovision Song Contest and they are hoping to change their fortunes, having failed to qualify for the final last year with the song ‘Paper’.

You can watch the First Semi-Final of Söngvakeppnin at 20.45 CET on our Multi-Window Live Feed.
