The temperature rises as Hungarian broadcaster Duna TV is ready to start the search for its 2019 Eurovision act by holding the first semi-final of their well-known and popular TV show, A Dal
Tonight’s show marks the first out of three pre-heats for this year’s competition in Budapest that will see the 30 acts announced back in December competing for the final prize of representing Hungary at the biggest music TV show in the world.
Thus, the line-up will look as it follows for tonight featuring 10 of the acts:
- TÃmea Antal ft. GergÅ‘Â Demko – Kedves Világ!
- Olivér Berkes – VilágÃtótorony
- DENIZ – Ide várnak vissza
- Barni Hamar – Wasted
- Konyha – Százszor visszajátszott
- Nomad – A remény hÃdjai
- Gergő Oláh – Hozzád bújnék
- Rozina Pátkai – Frida
- Gergő Szekér – Madár, repülj!
- László Váray – Someone who lives like this
As usual during the pre-qualifying rounds, there will be six spots available to continue in the race after tonight’s show. The qualifiers will be determined in two rounds of voting: the first round of voting will produce five acts making it through to the semifinals, decided by combining scores from each of the four judges and the viewer vote (based on SMS, mobile app and online voting). A second round will then see an additional qualifier selected by a public vote.
The show will be aired from 19:30 CET onwards and you will be able to tune in on our multi-window streaming platform. The night will be hosted by singer Bogi Dallos and ESC ‘old boy’ Freddie; the regular jury of judges – Feró Nagy, Lilla Vincze, Miklós Both and Misi MezÅ‘ – will be on hand to dissect the performances and inject just the right amount of fear into the proceedings.
30 candidates will compete in A Dal 2019 over six weeks of live shows starting this weekend. The 2019 Hungarian national selection will go on with the second round. Then it, another heat as well as two semifinals and the final on February 23 will be held in order to find the country’s representative in Tel Aviv.

Last year, A Dal saw a very energetic final with AWS bringing their electric performance to the stage. AWS went on to qualify for the grand final in Lisbon in which they finished 21st with their rock metal song ‘Viszlát nyár’.
