Sweden: New animated figure for “Heroes” performance revealed!

After the plagiarism accusations regarding the animated figure in Måns Zelmerlöw’s performance of “Heroes”, David Nordström designed a new little guy that will accompany Måns in Vienna. He was interviewed by Rebecca Haimi for SVT’s Kulturnyheter, he talked about the changes and drew the new figure on camera.

– There is a dancer, Dandy Punk, who has a similar figure in a video. There were plagiarism accusations. I do not know who was right or wrong in it. I can understand that our figure was like his, so to get all this off our backs, we created a new one, he says in the interview.

The new figure will be wearing a beret instead of a cone hat, he will fly away with a balloon instead of an umbrella and he also wears a sweater. In addition, he has become thicker.

– It was Easter, so he has eaten a lot and got a bit thicker. And now it is spring, so he has a new hat and a balloon instead of an umbrella, because it has stopped raining, he says in the interview and makes a sketch of the new figure.

The figure of the “Heroes” performance internally dubbed to “MP”. The initials stand for “Måns Petter”, and Måns Zelmerlöw has previously said that he thinks the figure of himself during a period in elementary school when he was insecure and needed support.
