Eurovision Eurovision 2020 Sweden

Sweden: 2545 songs submitted for Melodifestivalen

Submission period for Melodifestivalen 2020 is over and SVT announced that they received 2545 songs for the next year’s contest!

The next step will be taken by a jury who will pick 13 of the 28 entries while the 14 rest will be picked by SVT. We already know the first artist of Melodifestivalen as it was the winner of P4 Nästa, Amanda Aasa that took place a few weeks ago.

Melodifestivalen 2020 is slowly starting to take shape as SVT announced the hosts of next year’s contest (Lina Hedlund, Linnea Henriksson and David Sundin) two weeks ago and the cities and dates three weeks ago.

Sweden has been doing really good in the ’10s as they finished in the top 10 every year except for 2010 and 2013. John Lundvik managed to get a 5th place in Tel Aviv with “Too Late For Love” so we just have to wait and see if their streak will continue in the next decade as well.
