Sweden: 2450 entries for Melodifestivalen 2016!

The Swedish broadcaster SVT, who recently posted the dates and venues for when and where will take place next year’s edition of their popular and well-known national selection contest, Melodifestivalen.

So, earlier today we all were informed that the selection team caught almost 2500 entries (2450 exactly!) to be evaluated and shortlisted by a jury panel and SVT’s-commitee itself, so as to leave in competition a total of 28. The submission period closed today at 08.59 CET. 1982 are from the established artists and 468 from public entries; Although the number of songs received increased in 273 entries more than this year’s edition.

Christer Björkman, Executive Producer and Swedish Head of Delegation in the contest, is hopefully excited on this as he expects to see another Swedish entrant taking the trophy in Globen, at home.

As we reported some days ago, ‘Smajling Swedes’ will be the first act entering, after their qualification from ‘Svensktoppen Nästa 2015’, but as you all know, the song is compulsory required to be new and yet to be published, leaving the right to SVT to do it and used to upload one minute lenght-rehearsals two days before each semifinal, on Thursday.

The final set of songs and their composers will be announced this Fall, SVT reports.

Stay tuned for more updates on your favourite national selection in Europe! Who will be hosting? Who is entering? Who has written a song for it? More are about to come on due time!
