Interesting result facts

Måns Zelmerlöw became the first finalist of the evening. He has thereby become the first artist in all four heats he has participated in throughout history, earning a shared second place in this category in Melodifestivalen’s record book, alongside Mariette. He is just one spot behind the leader, Danny Saucedo.

Zelmerlöw advanced directly to the final from his heat for the fourth time in as many attempts, which also gives him a shared second place in history in this category, one step behind Danny Saucedo.

• With his four final spots in the modern Melodifestivalen, Måns Zelmerlöw now holds a shared sixth place on the historical list.

Måns Zelmerlöw’s results are typical for a Melodifestivalen-winning artist who, since 2002, has made a Melodifestivalen comeback. In 13 of the previous cases, the artist made it to the final in their comeback, while four were eliminated in the “Second Chance” round and two (Charlotte Perrelli in 2012 and Marie Bergman in 2015) in the heat stage. Two have won (Carola in 2006 and Charlotte Perrelli in 2008). However, among the artists who have won Melodifestivalen since the turn of the millennium, none have won again in their comeback. The Mamas’ third place in 2021 is the strongest result among these.

• After previous attempts by Arja Saijonmaa (2005 and 2019) and Krista Siegfrids (2016 and 2017), a Finnish entry has now reached the final for the first time since heats were introduced in 2002.

KAJ and Ella Tiritiello advanced in the competition, marking the first time since the first heat of 2022 that two Swedish-language entries moved forward from a single heat. At that time, only phone votes were used due to issues with the voting app. THEOZ and Danne Stråhed advanced to the Second Chance round. The last time two Swedish entries progressed, with at least one going directly to the final, was in the first heat of 2021, when Danny Saucedo (“Dandi dansa”) and Arvingarna both qualified directly for the final.

KAJ sings “Bara bada bastu” and Ella Tiritiello performed “Bara du är där”. The common denominator, beyond the Swedish language, is that both titles start with the word “bara” (meaning “only” or “just”).

Ella Tiritiello (18) is the first teenager to advance from a heat in 2025. The teenagers in this year’s lineup are Adrian Macéus (heat 1), Ella Tiritiello (heat 4), as well as Saga Ludvigsson and Arwin (both in heat 5).

Ella Tiritiello advanced from starting position 2 in heat 4, a position that has never directly led to the final since Melodifestivalen introduced heats in 2002. This is the 4th time in 24 attempts that an entry from this starting position has advanced to the Second Chance round. The previous cases were Star Pilots with “Higher” (2009), Dolly Style with “Rollercoaster” (2016), and Lillasyster with “Till Our Days Are Over” (2022). Entries from all starting positions except 5 have qualified directly to the final from one of the first four heats of 2025.

Andreas Lundstedt was eliminated from the competition, breaking two songwriter streaks. Dino Medanhodzic had previously advanced with all 12 of his entries before this, and LIAMOO had directly reached the final with all five of his entries, among which he was only a songwriter for one. The songwriting record for most consecutive entries to the final is 11, held by Jimmy “Joker” Thörnfeldt, but could be surpassed by Medanhodzic if Meira Omar qualifies from the finalkvalet 2025.

Andreas Lundstedt has now competed three times as a solo artist in the modern Melodifestivalen, and with all three entries he was eliminated after the heat stage. However, he has also competed five times as part of Alcazar, and in all five cases he advanced in the competition.

Nanne Grönvall led this week’s artist presentations, marking her participation in the program’s entertainment (outside of competition) for five different years. This achievement ties the record with Charlotte Perrelli, Tess Merkel, and Loreen. Nanne Grönvall previously participated in 2010 in the opening number of Heat 1 and in the Sweden–Norway show in the final that same year, in 2011 with the character “The Hurricane” and in the final, in 2016 in the final medley, and in 2022 in the number “Mello Italiano”.

Hall of Fame

Hasse Andersson – Photo: SVT

In 2015, he became “Hasse” to the entire Swedish public when the song “Guld och gröna skogar” (“Gold and Green Forests”) advanced to the final via the Second Chance round. When the results were counted, the song finished in fourth place, but that was just the beginning. Today, it has been streamed tens of millions of times, sung at school graduations, and secured Hasse Andersson a well-deserved spot in Melodifestivalen’s Hall of Fame.

The motivation for his Hall of Fame induction reads:

With “Guld och gröna skogar”, Hasse Andersson made his Melodifestivalen debut in 2015. Suddenly, the Swedish public, especially the younger viewers, had found a new idol who brought dance and fun. That year, hundreds of schools wanted Malmö’s Mello-Grandpa at their school graduations with this summery evergreen. “Guld och gröna skogar” gives us enjoyable nostalgia and now dances its way into Melodifestivalen’s Hall of Fame.

Hasse Andersson deserves a place in Melodifestivalen’s Hall of Fame after charming the entire Swedish public—young and old alike—with his catchy folk schlager “Guld och gröna skogar”

says Christer Björkman, Honorary Chairman of the Hall of Fame Committee

During heat 4 in Malmö, Hasse Andersson was present in the arena to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his participation in the competition. Along with a large children’s choir, Hasse performed his hit song “Guld och gröna skogar”, written by Johan Bejerholm, Johan Deltinger, Elin Wrethov, and Anderz Wrethov. During this performance, Hasse was surprised with his induction into Melodifestivalen’s Hall of Fame.
