RTP has revealed the artists that will compete at Festival da Canção 2019. The composers, previously selected by the broadcaster, have been in charge of picking up the singers that will perform their songs.
14 selected songwriters were asked to present an original, unpublished song for the contest. In addition to these 14 entries, two more slots were available for public submissions. The first public slot was selected through the “Master Class” radio program on station Antena 1, while the second one was chosen from all the applications received on the RTP’s official website.
Performing in the first semifinal on 16 February will be songs:
- Calema – A Dois
- Conan Osíris – Telemóveis
- Ana Cláudia – Inércia
- João Campos – É O Que É
- Filipe Keil – Hoje
- Ela Limão – Mais Brilhante Que Mil Sóis
- Soraia Tavares – O Meu Sonho
- Matay – Perfeito
In the second semifinal on 23 February songs of the remaining composers:
- Lara Laquiz – O Lugar
- Madrepaz – Mundo A Mudar
- Mariana Bragada – Mar Doce
- Dan Riverman – Lava
- NBC – Igual A Ti
- Mila Dores – Debaixo Do Luar
- Marlon – O Jantar
- Surma – Pugna
The actual running order in each semifinal will be determined by the organizers on a later date.
Two semi-finals (on February 16 and 23) will be held with eight entries each. In both semi-finals, a professional jury and the televoters will get a 50% say each in which entries qualify to the final on March the 2nd.
In the final seven regional juries will decide the outcome alongside the Portuguese televoters.
