Lithuania: Find out the first six qualifiers of Pabandom iš naujo 2022!

Once again, it’s that time of the year! Lithuania kicked off one of their shortest selections ever tonight with the first show out of four with the first preliminary heat, where they introduced viewers to eleven of the 36 competing entries. The show was hosted by Giedrius Masalskis and Ieva Stasiulevičiūtė accompanied by Richardas Jonaitis at the juries’ room.

This year, LRT has decided to form a rotating jury led by chairman Ramūnas Zilnys as four of its members will change in each of the four shows. This week, the rotating members were Ieva Narkutė (singer), Gerūta Griniūtė (cultural presenter and event host), Vytautas Bikus (composer) and Vaidotas Valiukevičius (member of The Roop).

As usual, the results throughout the entire selection will be decided in equal parts by an expert jury and the viewers at home. The money earned from the televoters, 51 euro cents per each individual vote, will be destined to funding the winner’s performance in Turin.

PABANDOM IŠ NAUJO, EUROVIZIJOS ATRANKA’S SUCCESSOR

Pabandom Iš Naujo was born in 2020 as a Eurovizijos Atranka, Lithuania’s previous National final successor, the Lithuanian preselection used since 1999. This national final gave Lithuania poor results on its latest edition.

After a reformulation of the LRT team, in 2020 they decided to change to this format in which the number of shows was reduced, and as a result, there was also an increase in music level. The Roop won the first edition of the renewed Lithuanian national final with ‘On Fire’. Before Eurovision 2020’s cancellation due to Covid-19, they were one of the favourites.

In 2021 with a place guaranteed in the Pabandom Iš Naujo’s final after not being able to go to Eurovision 2020 due to its cancellation, The Roop won again the ticket to Rotterdam with ‘Discoteque’They finished in a great 8th place in Eurovision 2021’s grand final, the second-highest position in Lithuania’s participation history.
