Norway has chosen its Eurovision 2025 representative! Kyle Alessandro has triumphed in the grand final of Melodi Grand Prix (MGP) 2025 with his song Lighter and will fly the Norwegian flag in Basel, Switzerland, this May. This year’s MGP final featured nine outstanding artists competing for the prestigious title. Hosted by Markus Neby, Marte Stokstad, and Tete Lidbom, the show delivered unforgettable moments, including a powerful opening act by last year’s representatives, Gåte. The event also paid tribute to Norwegian Eurovision history, featuring medleys of iconic songs like Nocturne (1995), Duett (1994), and La det swinge (1985), performed by Marcus & Martinus and other special guests.
Kyle Alessandro’s victory was secured through a combination of public voting (60%) and an international jury (40%). Unlike the traditional 50/50 split used in many national selections and Eurovision itself, Norway’s system gave more weight to the televote, allowing fans to have a stronger influence on the outcome. Who is Kyle Alessandro?
At just 18 years old, Kyle Alessandro is already a familiar name in the Norwegian music scene. Having competed in MGP 2023 as part of the group Umami Tsunami with Geronimo, he now returns as a solo artist, showcasing his evolution as a singer, songwriter, and producer.
