Israel: KAN makes open call for songs

As Israel’s HaKochav HaBa L’Eurovision gets closer to the final, KAN opens a call for songs which will ultimately be performed by Israel’s representative. Only national composers are allowed to participate in the selection.

KAN asked “Think you can write the next ‘Toy’?” to the public today, in hopes of receiving song submission from artists. KAN is definitely playing up the attention to the host country’s entry and is not afraid to suggest it should be on the level of a winning song. In an article published on the KAN website, they go on further to say “Maybe you have the song that will keep Eurovision in Israel in 2020?”.

Submissions will be open until February 17th. KAN had previously mentioned that a spin-off series to HaKochav HaBa L’Eurovision would be used to engage the public in the selection of the song the winning artist will perform.  We will provide more details when they become available.

You can find information to apply and the full set of rules on the official website of the broadcaster.
