ESC+Plus: Hello! First of all, thank you so much for your time and congratulations on having been selected to take part in the Icelandic national selection for Eurovision 2016!

E+: Can you tell us about you, your musical career and important achievements?

I am a singer and actor and my main work has been in music, musicals and cartoon voiceover work. Two years ago I was in second place after Pollapönk in Iceland’s Eurovision Song Contest. That was quite an achievement and I am very proud of the work me and my team did there.

E+: What impelled you to take part in “Söngvakeppnin 2016”?

Karl Olgeirsson wrote a fun song that we were about to release but decided to try and sent it to the competition first. We were going to release it anyway but now we get to make a bigger show out of the song and hopefully take it even further.

E+: How did you feel when you knew you had qualified for the final?

Excited. This is so much fun.

E+: What it would mean for you to represent Iceland?

I would be proud to represent Iceland with a fun song and an ambitious entertaining act.

E+: Can you tell us about your song “Kreisi” (Crazy)? What is the story behind the lyrics?

The song is about someone who is stuck in a video-game and can’t get outside and communicate with people. It’s an electro pop song.

E+: Do you think it will be your lucky attempt after 2014 when you finished second after Pollapönk? How was the experience in the competition?  Will you face this new attempt in a different way?

I think I can’t say how the votes will go. But hopefully I still have a few fans behind my back out there. It was a lot of work, fun work but a lot of work. I will face this time with more experience knowing to choose my battles, relax and enjoy the ride.

E+: How are you preparing your performance for “Söngvakeppnin”?

I am getting into a physical form to increase my stamina and making sure I have the best team around me. I will never do this all by myself.

E+: What is your opinion about the past Icelandic representatives in Eurovision? Do you have any favourites?

Hmmm I think ICY will always be my favorite. Helga Möller, Eirikur Hauksson and Pálmi Gunnarsson are a few of my childhood idols. It was the first time Iceland entered and it was a huge deal for me then.

E+: Besides Eurovision, what are your plans for this year?

I am working on the Icelandic version for the newest Pixar film, Zootopia, where I play the lead role – Judy Hopps. I also have other voice-over work and I will continue performing and writing a new musical called “Viggo & Violetta”

E+: Finally, can you send a message for our readers and Eurovision fans?

Thank you for your interest, I will keep everyone posted with the preparations. Please follow me on Facebook, Snapchat. You can find me under “Sigga Eyrun”.

E+: Thanks for your time and good luck!
