Interview Eurovision Eurovision 2015 Hungary

New Level Empire: “Homelights is about childhood and adulthood” (Hungarian participants – Interview)

ESC+Plus has talked with New Level Empire, one of the lucky chosen acts to compete at the Hungarian national selection for Eurovision 2015.

The band, formed by Nyuyó Sándor “Newl” (drums), Krajczár Péter “Krash” (keys), Mayer Petra “Shizuka” (DJ) y Ujvári Zoltán Szilveszter “Zola” (vocals, guitar), will sing “Homelights” at the Hungarian “A Dal”

ESC+Plus: Hello guys! Firstly, we would like to know more about you. Can you tell us about the band New Level Empire?

The band was born in September of 2013 with the working of our first song “The Last One”. That song is debuted in October and many radio and TV station have been playing since then also.

E+: A Dal is becoming a very important event in Hungary. Why did you decide entering this competition?

It was a hard decision but “A Dal” has a huge promotion platform and we had a great time and experiences there! So we think there’s nothing to lose! 🙂

E+: What it would mean for you to represent Hungary in Vienna?

Pleasure and joy! As for everyone!

E+: Your song is called “Homelights”. How was the composition procedure? Can you tell us about the song and the story behind the lyrics?

This song is about childhood and adulthood. Everyone has circumstances in the childhood when the lights around us. The lights of room, the shines of home around our life. That’s why we feel in safe. When we grow up we look for those lights to make our life safe and snug. Basically “Homelights” is a sentimental and energized song.

E+: How are you preparing your “A Dal” performance? Can you reveal us anything about it?

Yes, we are waiting for it so much but we like to reveal nothing about the show, it’s gonna be surprise! 🙂

E+: What are your main strengths so as to get the support of juries and televote to win the contest?

We hope the emotional and energized feeling of the song will be the strength! Anyway I’d like to perform it professionally and sentimentally! 🙂

E+:  If you win “A Dal 2015”, would you sing in English or in Hungarian at Eurovision? Would you do a new version of the song?

No, “Homelights” stays in English, we’d never like to rewritten to Hungarian language. But as we say: Never say never! 🙂

E+: What can this competition contribute to your musical careers?

As we see the international competition does not really “helps” the career. It’s hard work to make career in Europe as a Hungarian, in pop music. If you play jazz or classic you have more chances. In Hungarian language classic music is the same as you’d say: “Serious music” and pop music as light music is the same in hungarian when you say: “Easy music”. But pop is not so easy…:)

E+: Do you have any favorite song among the other “A Dal” candidates?

Not yet. We’d like to listen the others before we start the show…:)

E+: European Women’s Handball Championship was held in Hungary last year. The theme song, which was called “Hold your hands so high”, was performed by you. How did you feel after being selected as the musical part of this event?

The Hungarian Handball Federation asked us to write a song for the European championship. They liked our song “The last one” and they wanted a song like this. When we did the song they were so satisfied…:)

E+: Finally, would you like to send a message for our readers?

Thank you for following, for listening and for all kindness! We hope that “Homelights” is gonna be one of their favourite! 🙂
