Interview Eurovision Eurovision 2015 Hungary

Kati Wolf: “Big love of Eurovision fans always makes me feel good and powerful” (Hungarian participant – Interview)

ESC+Plus has had the pleasure to talk with Kati Wolf, Hungarian representative at Eurovision 2011 and one of the participants competing at “A Dal” 2015. Kati will sing “Ne engedj el” in the third show set on February 7.

ESC+Plus: Hello Kati! How has your musical career changed after your experience at Eurovision?

After Eurovision Song contest my carrier has been rising very quickly, and I had a lot of concerts. I’ve been singing a lot, I released songs. In 2013 me and my family moved to Hong Kong, because my husband worked there, and I followed him with our daughters of course, so I had a big break in music, I spent that year as a mother and wife. We moved back in 2014 summer, and I sing a lot again, I have an amazing acoustic project with brilliant musicians. And now I have a brand new song, which is selected in the ‘A Dal”.

Participate in a competition like Eurovision gives you amazing experience, you never forget. Big love of Eurovision fans is something that always makes me feel good and powerful. In last November I sang in London is a Eurovision club, and people were singing with me, even the Hungarian part of “What about my dreams”. Eurovision Song contest gave me a very faithful audience.

E+: What memories and experiences do you remember from your Eurovision participation?

If you ask anyone who has been participating in Eurovision, everybody says that it was his or her greatest experience ever. I say the same, because it’s true! I’ve never been singing on a stage like this before, I will always remember the full arena, the standing ovation and how people were singing with me… goose-skin.

E+: This is the first time you take part in the Hungarian national selection for Eurovision “A Dal”. Why did you decide to enter the contest?

I really felt that Eurovision was a finished, full, fantastic story in my life. I feel, that in 2011 my song was one of the bests, I did my best, and “What about my dreams” still lives in the soul of fans. But now I have a brand new song, “Ne Engedj El!” (The Less I Care), and I think it is a very strong, and powerful song, so I want to show it and make to compete.

E+: This time you will compete with the song “Ne engedj el” composed by Martin Ankelius, Sebastian Zelle, Krajczár Péter and written by Major Eszter, Linnea Deb. How was your collaboration with them?

The Hungarian composer, Péter Krajczár is in connection with the Swedish composers, they sent the song to Péter, and he showed me. I fell in love with the song at first time :)!

E+: Can you describe tell us about your song and the story behind the lyrics?

It’s about love, of course. Everything is about love! NE engedj El! tells you the situation when you are in love with someone, but the other one is not sure in love. The song is about “decide if you love me or not, and if not, then leave…”.

E+: How about your performance? Can you give us any hint about it?

Let’s keep it in secret 🙂

E+: Have your thought about promoting your song around the country before “A Dal”?

I’m planning, I sing it at my concerts, and you can see it on Youtube.

E+: What is your favorite Hungarian song from in the history of Eurovision?

The Hungarian song from Kállay-Sanders András was the best song I think, and he had a super result.

E+: Do you see any difference between Eurovision now and back in 2011?

No, I don’t. For me, of course, the song contest in Düsseldorf was absolutely the best and most amazing show of all.

E+: Finally, would you like to send a message for our readers?

I always say the same: Fans of Eurovision gave a lot to me, I just can’t say enough:  thank you!!!!
