Janet: “I want people to be happy with my work! This is really important for me!” (Belarusian finalist – Interview)

Esc+Plus has talked to Janet, one of the fifteen finalists of the Belarusian national selection for Eurovision 2015. She has just qualified for the final to take place this month, on December 26.

ESC+Plus: Hi, Janet! Firstly, congratulations on having qualified for the Belarusian final. How did you feel when you were told you were one of the fifteen finalists?

Hello! Thank you very much! Of course I was happy! And first of all because behind me I have my lovely songwriters of the song Supernova! And also my whole team! It is our common success!

E+: Why did you decide to take part at this year’s competition?

Last year was quite successful for me! I also got to the finals and performed the song “You will be here” by the talented authors Ylva and Linda Persson. The song was loved by many! We did a great performance and then filmed the video for the song, which is now broadcasted on Vevo! This video is dedicated to families who can’t have children and I am really proud of this job!

This year, I got about 300 songs from authors from different countries, but my choice stayed on the song Supernova (by Ylva and Linda Persson from Sweden and William Taylor from the United Kingdom). Now I am ready take part in the contest again and have something to show the people!

E+: How are you preparing your final performance?

We are working on preparations for the performance! We understand the competition and want to show something unusual!

E+: Your song is called “Supernova”. What is your song about? What is the story behind the lyrics?

This is a special song with a special energy! Supernova – a new life! A life full of happiness, love and joy! A dream come true!

E+: You took part at last year’s competition. How do you face this new Eurovision attempt?

For me, the main thing is to show a great show, sing well and surprise the people! This is a very important competition, where you meet your country. I’m a popular singer here in Belarus and have a lot of concerts and shows! But time is short until December 26th and my team and I are working day and night!

 

 

E+: You sang alone during the semi-final audition. Will you bring a different stage performance at final? Can you give us any hint?

I am preparing a show full of surprises! (which till now I hold as a secret). Let me just say that I will be supported by the songwriters Ylva and Linda Persson “OneVoice” as backing vocalists, they will arrive from Sweden for the show on December 26!

E+: What are your main strengths so as to get the support of juries and televote?

For any true artist who does a concert performance or takes part in a competition there must be equal responsibility at the highest level! I always think about the people, about the audience who come to see my performance. I want people to be happy with my work! This is really important for me!

E+: What can this competition contribute to your musical career?

Each concert is the next step in your life! And even if you’re the winner – you can never stop moving forward! You must continue working and developing, and, the most important thing, thinking about the people! My main goal as an artist is to bring love, hope and happiness to the people through my songs!

E+: Finally, would you like to send a message for our readers?
