ESC+Plus has talked to Erlend Bratland, finalist of the Norwegian national selection for Eurovision 2015 “Melodi Grand Prix”. Erlend will sing “Thunderstruck” in the final set on March 14.
ESC+Plus: Hello Erland! First of all congratulations on having been selected to compete at Melodi Grand Prix 2015.
Thank you
E+: What did you feel when you were told you were among the finalists?
I feel very well; this is a large competition in Norway.
E+: Can you tell us about you, your musical evolution and important achievements?
I started in musicals when I was 12, and I’ve always been singing. In 2008 I won the talent show “Norway Got Talent”. Then I had great success with my single “Lost”, a cover song that Anouk has written.
E+: Why did you decide to take part in MGP 2015?
Ever since 2009, when Loreen won Esc, I’ve thought of sending in a song. We sent the song, and I’m very happy that we got picked.
E+: What it would mean for you to represent Norway in Vienna?
That would be amazing, to perform Thunderstruck in front of all those people.
E+: Your song is called “Thunderstruck”. Can you tell us about your song and the story behind the lyrics?
“Thunderstruck” is a larger than life song, big vocals, good rhythm, and a touch of reality. It’s meant to make people remember they change all the time.
E+: Do you have any favorite song among the other MGP finalists?
I know there are very many strong competitors this year, and the quality of our final will be breathtaking.
E+: Do you usually watch Eurovision? Do you have any favorite song in the history of the contest?
Yes, I really loved Loreen, Lena, Anouk and the list goes on.
E+: What is your favourite music style? Do you have any favourite singer?
I’m really more a classical singer and I like Celine Dion and the other divas, I love good lyrics and big vocal!
E+: Finally, would you like to send a message for our readers?
Wishing you all great Esc moment this spring.
