Interview Eurovision Eurovision 2016 Norway

Elouiz: “History is a perfect love story about a relationship, like in the fairy-tales” (Norwegian finalist – Exclusive Interview)

ESC+Plus has talked to Elouiz, finalist of this year’s Norwegian national selection for Eurovision. Elouiz will perform “History” in the final of MGP 2016 to take place tomorrow.

ESC+Plus: Hello! First of all, thank you so much for your time and congratulations on having been selected to take part in the Norwegian national selection for Eurovision 2016!

Can you tell us about you, your musical career and important achievements?

Music has always been a huge part of my family’s life. My mum is a singer and vocal coach and my dad was a drummer and singer in a band, dreaming of making it big. I’ve been singing since I was very young and I released my first single “10” in the summer of 2014. I have released a couple of singles since, and I’m currently working on my debut album.

E+: What impelled you to take part in “MGP 2016”?

I’ve always liked MGP and Melodifestivalen in Sweden, and I think this is a nice opportunity to show people my music. Hopefully they will check out some of my other music as well and continue following me on my journey.

E+: How did you feel when you knew you had qualified for the final? Did you expect it?

No, I didn’t. My record company called me unexpectedly and told me while I was on a road trip with my family. I was in the middle of nowhere so I lost the signal like three times. It was hard to understand what just happened. Both me and my mum started crying because we were so happy.

E+: What would it mean to you to represent Norway?

It’s hard to imagine. I would be so grateful and happy. It would mean the world to me.

E+: Can you tell us about your song? What is the story behind the lyrics?

“History” is a love story about a relationship like in the stories, a thing of fairy-tales. It’s the perfect relationship, and they want to show it to the world.

E+: Why do you think your song has to be selected for Stockholm? What are you strengths to reach the top in the competition?

I think I have good song, and I hope people can relate to the it and that I give a strong performance.

E+: How are you preparing your stage performance for “MGP 2016”?

I try to think positive thoughts, and stay calm. This is my dream and I’m trying to get the most out of it. I also find strength from my dad, that shared the same dream.

E+: Do you usually watch Eurovision? What are your favorite songs in the history of the competition?

Yes. I usually follow both MGP and Melodifestivalen (my family is from Sweden) as well. My favorite performance is Loreen – Euphoria.

E+: If you could choose a Eurovision former participant to sing along with, who would it be?

Loreen, no doubt.

E+: Besides Eurovision, what are your plans for this year?

I plan to continue releasing singles, write new songs, and work on my coming album. Hopefully my participation in MGP will open new doors for me.

E+: Finally, can you send a message for our readers and Eurovision fans?

Hi! I really hope that you will like my song and performance, and follow me on my continued journey after Eurovision.

E+: Thanks for your time and good luck!
