Eglé Jakštytė: “My song is expressive, energetic and dissimilar to the Eurovision song standards” (Lithuanian candidate – Exclusive Interview)

ESC+Plus has talked to Eglé Jakštytė, candidate of this year’s Lithuanian national selection for Eurovision, “Eurovizijos 2016”. The singer is competing with the song “Let Me Show You”:

ESC+Plus: Hello! First of all, thank you so much for your time and congratulations on having been selected to take part in the Lithuanian national selection for Eurovision 2016!

E+: Can you tell us about you, your musical career and important achievements?

I’m known as a singer in Lithuania since I took a part in a musical project called “Muzikos Akademija 2” , where I won the first place and just after that I’ve signed a contract with “Zuzi Entertainment “, who later released my two music albums. At this time I am a successful singer in the Lithuanian pop stage.

E+: What impelled you to take part in “Eurovizijos 2016”?

It’s not the first time I’m trying my luck in the Eurovision Song Contest selection, but this year I have my own written song and wanted to try it again.

E+: How did you feel during your first performance on stage? Did you expect to get the ticket for the next stage of the competition?

As I said it’s not my first time on that stage, but I felt self-confident and that’s why I believe that I can get the ticket to semifinal.

E+: What it would mean for you to represent Lithuania?

It would be a pleasure for me to represent my country in such a big song contest, I believe every singer would love to do that.

E+: Can you tell us about your song? What is the story behind the lyrics?

My song is about the human race and its blindness on things that surrounds us, we need to stop and look around how beautiful life is …

E+: Why do you think your song has to be selected for Stockholm? What are you strengths to reach the top in the competition?

I really believe in my song, which is expressive, energetic and dissimilar to the Eurovision Song Contest standards. The way I perform this song is something different to others.

E+: Will you change your stage performance for the next stage of “Eurovizijos 2016”?

There’s going to be some changes, first of all I will sing in English and my stage costume will be different.

E+: Do you usually watch Eurovision? What are your favorites songs in the history of the competition?

I’m watching the Eurovision Song Contest every year and my favorite song is “Loreen- euphoria ” .

E+: If you could choose a Eurovision former participant to sing along with, who would it be?

I wouldn’t choose anyone else. That is why I’m performing my song alone.

E+: Besides Eurovision, what are your plans for this year?

This year I’m planing to release my new album of self-written songs.

E+: Finally, can you send a message for our readers and Eurovision fans?

“Hope you all are falling in love with my song and I promise to put all of my heart in it “

E+: Thanks for your time and good luck!
