ESC+Plus has talked to Annica Milán and Kimmo Blom, semifinalists of the Finnish national selection for Eurovision. The duet will sing the ballad “Good Enough” in the second semi-final of UMK 2016 set on February 13.
Hello! First of all, thank you so much for your time and congratulations on having been selected to take part in the Finnish national selection for Eurovision 2016!
E+: Can you tell us about you, your musical career and important achievements?
We both have worked in a musical theatre some years ago and that’s where we met in the first place. Besides that we have both participated in The Voice of Finland contest. And Kimmo has some UMK history as well (Angelo De Nile). Annica is currently studying in the Conservatory and Kimmo is working as a freelancer.
E+: What impelled you to take part in “UMK 2016”?
It started with a thought and need to take part in UMK, then we started a collaboration with our songwriters and got the perfect song for the competition.
E+: How did you feel when you knew you had qualified for the semi-finals? Did you expect it?
We were thrilled! Although we had all the time believed in the song, still it was a nice surprise!
E+: What it would mean for you to represent Finland?
We would be honoured to represent Finland in the ESC.
E+: Can you tell us about your song? What is the story behind the lyrics?
Our song is about Big emotions, looking from different perspectives with love written in it. It’s about excepting.
E+: Why do you think your song has to be selected for Stockholm? What are you strengths to reach the top in the competition?
Because it has everything you need in a great song! Hopefully a great vocal performance and a stage presentation never seen before.
E+: Have you started to prepare your stage performance for “UMK 2016”?
Definitely yes! It’s gonna be something different. A challenge in a good way.
E+: Kimmo, how do you remember your participation in UMK 2015 as Angelo de Nile?
I loved being part of UMK 15! Therefore it was easy to say yes when we were offered a chance to apply once again.
E+: Do you usually watch Eurovision? What are your favorites songs in the history of the competition?
Yes, we watch it every year. My personal favorite is Emmelie de Forest Only Teardrops and Kimmo still loves ABBA.
E+: If you could choose a Eurovision former participant to sing along with, who would it be?
Celine Dion for the both of us
E+: Besides Eurovision, what are your plans for this year?
To make more music and do great shows!
