ESC+Plus: Hello! First of all, thank you so much for your time and congratulations on having been selected to take part in the Icelandic national selection for Eurovision 2016!

E+: Can you tell us about you, your musical career and important achievements?

Hi I’m Alda Dís and I’m 23 years old singer/songwriter. I grew up in a small town in western Iceland and always dreamt about being a singer. Last year, I won Iceland got talent, after that, everything changed. I decided to do an album witched followed my number one single Rauða Nótt.

E+: What impelled you to take part in “Söngvakeppnin 2016”?

Well I’m a huge Eurovision fan. Actually, this is a life long dream of mine to compete in this particular competition, so when I got the right song I just went for it.

E+: How did you feel when you knew you had qualified for the semi-final?

Thrilled! Like I said, I believe in the song and I think it’s great and It has a beautiful message.

E+: What it would mean for you to represent Iceland? Can you tell us about your song? What is the story behind the lyrics?

The world!! It would be an honor. The story behind the song “Augnablik” (Now) is so beautiful and I think everyone can relate to it. It’s basicly about leaving the past behind and enjoy the moment. We live in such a fast and busy community and sometimes forget to enjoy the passing moment. We never know what tomorrows gonna bring. My song is modern, honest and awesome!

E+: How are you preparing your performance for “Söngvakeppnin”?

Practicing like a crazy person! Sometimes, I meditate just to keep my head on my shoulders and practice some more.

E+: What is your opinion about the past Icelandic representatives in Eurovision? Do you have any favourites?

Yes! My absolute favorite is “All out of luck” by Selma Björnsdóttir. I was 6 years old when she competed and I think “All out of luck” was the only song a sang that year!

E+: Besides Eurovision, what are your plans for this year?

Music! Performing, creating music and hopefully get the chance to educate kids about music and how music can be created by everyone.

E+: Finally, can you send a message for our readers and Eurovision fans?

We’ve got now until forever!

E+: Thanks for your time and good luck!
