One of the most talked-about moments from Eurovision 2019 was when the cameras panned to the green room and focused on the Icelandic act, HATARI to find them in pose displaying a Palestinian flag in clear demonstration of a political message.
The EBU has ordered the Icelandic broadcaster to pay 5,000 euros. In response RUV has objected to the EBU’s penalty, commenting that they are “dissatisfied with the handling of the case and the proposed outcome. (Tramadol) ”
This news from RUV comes shortly after the details for Songvakeppnin 2020 have emerged. As we noted, we hope that Hatari will once again be present in the national final procedure as they have a break in their ‘Europe Will Crumble’ tour.
What do you think of the actions of the EBU? Is 5,000 euros a big enough penalty?
