Eurovision Eurovision 2020 Iceland

Iceland: Daði & Gagnamagnið to Rotterdam!

Tonight, the Grand Final of Songvakeppnin 2020 took place in Reykavik. Five acts competed for a chance to battle it out in a duel where the public would have control over the destiny of who would succeed Hatari in representing the island nation at Eurovision. When the final votes were counted, Daði will be going to Rotterdam to represent Iceland.

After the five acts performed it was revealed that DIMMA and Daði & Gagnamagnið were the two with the highest amount of points from a 50/50 combo of jury and televote. The full running order of the show was as follows:

  1. “Meet me halfway” – Ísold & Helga
  2. “Think About Things” – Daði & Gagnamagnið
  3. “Echo” – Nína
  4. “Oculis Videre” – Iva
  5. “Almyrkvi” – Dimma

Last year’s winners, HATARI performed their single ‘Klefi’ along with special guest Bashar. The artists had collaborated together shortly after their time in Tel Aviv at Eurovision 2019. They also then performed ‘Hatrid Mun Sigra’ with a special children’s choir.

2019 Eurovision televote winners, KEiiNO also performed their new single ‘Black Leather’ alongside ‘Spirit In The Sky’.

Dadi and Dimma got the chance to perform again where voters had the chance to vote again. In this round, the points from the first round carried over in the total tabulation of the winner determination.

Last year, HATARI brought Iceland a top 10 result in Tel Aviv. This was the first time Iceland had made the top 10 at Eurovision since 2009. Can Daði improve on this result? Let us know in the comments.
