Iceland: Changes introduced for Söngvakeppnin final

The “Söngvakeppnin 2015” final will be held in Reykjavik this Saturday and the broadcaster has announced today minimal changes for the show.

Despite the fact that the rules of the contest state that all songs must be sung in Icelandic, RÚV has decided that the 7 participants can sing in the language they prefer at final, so now, the audience can listen to the songs as they would be presented in Vienna.

Five songs will be changed to English language however, the song titles haven’t been revealed yet:

  • Cadem – Fyrir alla
  • Sunday – Fyadrir
  • María Oláfsdóttir – Lítil skref
  • Elín Síf Halldórsdóttir – Í kvöld
  • Fridrik Dór – Í sídasta skipti

On the other hand, the remaining two entries will be sung in Icelandic at final and, consequently, at Eurovision if they won the national final:

  • Björn og Félagar – Piltur og stúlka
  • Haukur Heidar – Milljón augnablik

Moreover, the jury members have also been revealed. The two superfinalists will be chosen by a combination of jury and public televote (50/50) while the final winner will be decided by the audience at superfinal. The jury will be formed by:

  • Sigridur Thorlacius
  • Stefán Hilmarsson
  • Jóhanna Gudrun Jónsdóttir (Eurovision 2009)
