Gjon’s Tears to perform ‘Repondez-moi’ for Switzerland in Rotterdam – Song revealed

SRF has just announced that Gjon’s Tears will represent Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020. The song he will perform has also been revealed, so you can now listen to ‘Repondez-moi’!

Gjon’s Tears has been involved in the music “magic” since he was little. When he was 12, his grandad, who has Albanian roots, submitted him for Albania’s Got Talent, where he came 3rd. A year later, he reached the semifinals at the Swiss version of the TV show. In 2019, he took part at The Voice France, where he also reached the semifinals.

“The ESC is the biggest music event and it is huge for an artist to be a part of it. True to this year’s slogan – ‘Open up’ – I am totally open to this unique adventure and I’m looking forward to everything that comes with it! ”He continues: “I want to give my everything at the Eurovision Song Contest and I want to be proud of who I am, where I come from and what I have achieved. I want to inspire people to follow their own path with ‘Répondez-moi’.”, Gjon commented on his Eurovision participation.

The song ‘Repondez-moi’, which was composed by Gjon himself, Xavier Michel, Alizé Oswald and produced by Jeroen Swinnen, was selected by a 100-member audience panel and an expert committee made up of 20 music professionals

Gjon’s Tears said: “Everyone asks themselves why exactly are we here, where do we come from and where are we going. These are key questions, particularly for people from a migrant background. My parents are from Albania and Kosovo. I grew up in Switzerland and it’s my home, these are questions that I think about a lot.”

This is the first time in 10 years Switzerland will be represented by a song in French. What do you think about this choice?
