Eurovision 2023: Liverpool is getting ready

Liverpool is getting more and more ready to welcome thousands of Eurovision fans in this city, but is also getting set to charm millions of people across the globe when the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 makes its way to the United Kingdom.

The city of Liverpool is having all sorts of events and decorative elements around the city to celebrate Ukrainian culture, but also all sorts of things that unite us, as human-beings, with music.

The statue known as the “Superlambanana” is getting a make-over especially for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, because the statue will be painted in the colours of the Ukrainian flag, blue and yellow. Normally the iconic Liverpudlian statue is yellow, but for the contest the top part if painted blue. The statue stands in front of the Avril Roverts Library in Liverpool (Tithebarn Street).

No less than 1,859 daffodils (flowers) were handed out on March 19th 2023 on the Royal Albert Dock in Liverpool; this site is very close to where the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 will be held. The daffodils represented “the road to Eurovision” and “the solidarity with Ukraine”. The fact that 1,859 daffodils were handed out, marked the miles between Ukraine and Liverpool. The daffodils were given away outside the Beatles Story at the Britannia Courtyard and in front of the Martin Luther King Junior Building.
