Nicosia Calling
Nicosia Calling

From the Balkans we head to Cyprus. Cyprus are returning to the Eurovision Song Contest this year after a 1 year break. They are being represented in Vienna by John Karayiannis and the song “One Thing I Should’ve Done”.

Cyprus debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest at the 1981 contest in Dublin, Ireland, they were represented by Island with the song “Monika”. Cyprus’ best result came at the 2004 contest in Istanbul, the island nation were represented by Lisa Andreas with the song “Stronger Every Minute”.  Lisa finished 5th in the final with 170 points.

On the Eurojury from Cyprus is their 2009 entrant Christina Metaxa. Christina represented Cyprus in Moscow with the song “Firefly” which was written by her brother Nicholas. Christina is currently living in the United States where she is studying for a degree.

Here are the points from Cyprus:

  • Belgium – 6 points
