Microsoft to be the Technology Partner of Eurovision 2015!

The official site of ESC, Eurovision.tv has announced that Microsoft will become the Technology Partner for Eurovision 2015.

They have been granted extensive pan-European media, association, event and new media rights for upcoming Eurovision related events in Austria, and they will also help out in all the technical areas during the contest, including equipping all volunteers with smartphones. Microsoft will also play a key role in the new and updated version of the ESC app.

The Executive Supervisor of EBU, Jon Ola Sand is excited about this as he says:

“We welcome Microsoft on board the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest as the Technology Partner.With their help we will be able to lift the official mobile app to even greater heights and also for the first time, bring it to Windows Phone.”

The General Manager of Microsoft Austria, Georg Obermeier is also very satisfied with the collaboration, and spoke out about his expectations:

“We are very proud to have been selected as official technology partner for the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. This unique and most compelling event gives us the opportunity to show how our innovations and technologies work and build the backend for mobile services, data exchange and communication across the world. Microsoft Azure cloud services, Lumia smartphones and apps as well as our Yammer communication platform contribute best possible to facilitate things and make this event unforgettable for every participant”

Eurovision Song Contest will be held on May 19th, 21st and 23rd in  Vienna, Austria.
