Day 3 from Nice: A Glimpse into the Second Individual Rehearsals with Exclusive Clips

The third day of rehearsals for the Grand Final of Junior Eurovision 2023 has once again filled the Palais Nikaïa in the French town of Nice. After two days of tests and the artists’ first interaction with the impressive stage, we now have a preliminary insight into the stage ideas of the 16 participating countries.

Today (and tomorrow), during the second individual rehearsals, each delegation is working to finalize and perfect their different stage productions to be flawless in front of the jury and the live broadcast this Sunday, November 26, from 16:00 CET.

As we are used to every year, each country has two individual rehearsals, during which they can take multiple shots of the song they are presenting in the competition.

In this second opportunity, each country is allocated 20 minutes to perform multiple takes of their performances as dictated by the organization. The stage teams of each country will work hard to try to refine all the details of their stage productions.

Which countries have rehearsed on the third day (23/11/2023)?

Once again, the press will not have access to the individual rehearsals of Junior Eurovision 2023. Therefore, in these second closed-door rehearsals for the press, the EBU is the one publishing visual material about each participating country. In the afternoon, on the official YouTube channel of Junior Eurovision, the compilation of rehearsals for the day has been released, offering a brief preview of a few seconds of the performances with production.

The delegations of Ukraine, North Macedonia, Germany, Estonia, the United Kingdom, Malta, Portugal, the Netherlands, Georgia, and Armenia have been the first to carry out their second individual rehearsals on the grand stage of the contest.

Following the model of last year, the EBU has not provided new visual material for these second rehearsals. Instead, we have been able to enjoy a preview with production.

Germany

Fia – «Ohne Worte»

With futuristic pink backgrounds and a sunrise FIA performed her song on the stage with a dancer, looking to the camera and bringing the performance closer to the deaf public, with its interpretation in sign language.

Estonia

ARHANNA – «Hoiame Kokku»

With a dark atmosphere and a giant spider web on her back, Arhanna performs her rehearsal, hitting a high note in the seconds that we have been able to see.

Georgia

Anastasia & Ranina – «Over The Sky»

Dressed in white Anastasia & Ranina performed their rehersals, with a blue backgrounds and dancers wearing large tails like peacocks.

North Macedonia

Tamara Grujevska – «Kaži Mi, Kaži Mi Koj»

Tamara took us on a journey with her singing. She starts with a hood on, that shortly after the first verses she removes, and start walking through the stage that even if simple in blue tonalities, is very effective, as the focus of the song is Tamara and her voice.

Malta

Yulan Law – «Stronger»

Yulan stood up on the Junior Eurovision stage to showcase her enormous voice. She wears black and white clothes. as the background, and we can see an augmented live singing video of her performance, making her the main character of the performance.

Netherlands

Sep & Jasmijn – «Holding On To You»

The fan favourites Sep & Jasmijn lived up to the expectations and they proved that the hype with their performance was worth it. Jasmijn was vocally on point and the chemistry between the two of them was apparent. The effective lighting and set up of the whole performance really elevated the whole act. We can see now the DJ standing up on top of a 2m platform making her more visible and a very important part of the performance.

Portugal

Júlia Machado – «Where I Belong»

Julia showed a very emotional side in this performance, where its dress and makeup matches perfectly the mood of the song. Simplicity and raw emotions are the key elements of this performance that will touch Europe’s hearts.

United Kingdom

STAND UNIQU3 – «Back To Life»

Stand Uniqu3 brought city vibes to the Junior Eurovision stage with darkness and lights as the common theme of the performance.They bursted on energy and chemistry, and the act looks very polished and high-tech. They also look very empowered on the stage, inviting the audience to dance and sing with them.

Ukraine

Anastasia Dymyd – «Kvitka»

Last act of the day was Anastasia, who did an impecable run-through showing and proving the audience that she is up for win. The act includes some fake flowers as the laid motif of the song, and the simple yet effective choreo really help the audience to not to take the eyes away from the screen.

As the sun sets on the third day of Junior Eurovision 2023 rehearsals, the Palais Nikaïa continues to resonate with the harmonies and brilliance brought forth by the young talents from Ukraine, North Macedonia, Germany, Estonia, the United Kingdom, Malta, Portugal, the Netherlands, Georgia, and Armenia tomorrow promises the unveiling of the remaining six countries’ performances, completing the lineup for the Grand Final on November 26.

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has offered a sneak peek into the way the countries will appear on screen on Sunday, releasing exclusive snippets of the final production of the performances. These teasers not only build anticipation but also mark the prelude to viewer engagement. Once all 16 rehearsal clips are released, voting will commence, allowing audiences to play a vital role in selecting the winner.
